My Prologue 16 is about two years old.
I have noticed recently that sometimes when I play a note it starts out with a scratchy distorted noise. I guess one of the voices is beginning to fail?

Has anyone had this happen?

It is past warranty.
I guess I will enquire with Korg about getting it repaired.

If you haven't changed any user oscillators recently it is probably something wrong.

But hear with Korg support/service if any connector between voice cards may be oxidiced or something, or loose.

Otherwise it may be a user oscillator that corrupt memory under some circumstances. I had one of those. In my case a kind of klonk sound every 4 voices or so after visiting one preset with that oscillator. But power cycle fix that.

Ah right. I have installed a bunch of user oscillators and user fx. That could be it. I wouldn't have thought they could have affected the VCOs, because the problem happens with init patch and no multi level. I'll try removing the ones recently added. That could be the problem.

Thanks very much!

So I have done a factory reset, removed all user osc and fx.
Also reinstalled latest firmware.
I still have a problem of noisy VCOs using INIT patch with no FX.

I heard that Korg no longer repair products out of warranty. I will see if they can do anything.
This thing is just 2 years old. Behringer gear lasts longer than this. I guess Korg is a dinosaur company?

This error came up in the voice componentry test.
I ran the test from the service manual.

Service manual is available here:
https://www.synthxl.com/korg-prologue/

Sending it to the third party agent for investigation after they replied to my query. So that's good.

Thanks for the link to service manual, that may come in handy at some point in future.

- Yes, it's a mess when needing service.

Hope you get it sorted.

Just to report back on this for anyone else:
I sent it for inspection to the NZ Korg authorized repair team. After thinking it was fine they finally found the fault and replaced one of the voice cards.
I asked if they had many issues with the Prologue, if many people were sending them in for repair, and he said no, they seem to be very solid quality. So I just got one of the rare cases.
Anyway it's all fixed after NZ$400 or so for sending to another city and repair.
Shame to have to spend that but it's back to sounding as it should.
