|

Hey - I hope someone can help me before I start investing in an upgrade.
My PA800 freezes after spinning the tempo control or press any buttons. I have a video at the bottom so you can see 2min.
Here is what I've done so far:
1. Factory reset
2. Install default sets
3. Some Styles do not play after loading
4. Find the one that does and hit start/stop
5. When I spin the tempo/value the RT/ACC control shows up on the screen and instead of tempo it moves that instead (check out the video at 1:20 mark)
6. Then becomes unresponsive - sometimes shots down on its own
After that either boots or it does not boot, stays at Korg Pa 800 screen, few times turning on/off and it boots but no sounds comes, but sometimes it does but same issue happens.
Now, question
1. is this HDD problem or memory problem (I was planning to upgrade to 256mb - buying a full kit)
2. Is this board problem or something else more serious
3. Is this mechanical issue (dust or something else)?
Did anyone had this issue before or seen this before?
Any help would be appreciated

Mine has the same problem.
You can run the diagnostic on the instrument.
While booting press [Style Play] + [Media] buttons down to access the menu.
You can run the test from there.
When I did it identified the memory TGL Ram Bank 2/2 Test bus error.
So it looks like the removable 64mb RAM card is the problem.
I took the PA800 apart to access the RAM. It is a difficult procedure to do, as the "computer" is attached with many ribbon cables and screws.
I managed to get it apart, and am now waiting on a ram chip.
Another very helpful person on the forum let me know that while this may
fix the problem initially, it may come back due to a different issue on the
main computer board. So I am not sure if this will work.
hat is what I have found out. You can read my post.
I have run into one other person that had the problem, and he sold his PA800 to someone as is. _________________ PA5X-76, Nautilus-73, Kronos-73, M3-73, Radias-R, Triton Extreme 61, CX-3, N1R, Micro-X, Kontrol49, MicroStation, T3 workstation, Mini-Korg 700s, RK100s, MS-20i controller |
