|
|
Another topic discussed a Behringer FCB1010 as an alternate to the EC5 Footswitch
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make this work with my current setup (KRONOS as Master Keyboard)
Have a Master Keyboard Setup via MIDI IN to the Pa5X. The FCB1010 sends on MIDI Channel 01 (Default) - I had originally had my external keyboard on Channel 01. Reprogrammed FCB1010 switches to send on Channel 2 which worked. But not in combination with the KRONOS (Master Keyboard)
I have the 5X setup properly to receive both Channels 1 and 2, but it only recoginzes one device at a time. The problem seems to be with the MIDI IN to the PA5X, or the MIDI Out/Thru from the KRONOS. I can make both devices work independently if I change the Output from Out to Thru and Vice Versa.
Current setup: FCB1010 MIDI Out to KRONOS MIDI In, KRONOS MIDI Out to PA5X --- In this setup the Master Keyboard Works but FCB1010 does not
Alternate setup: FCB1010 MIDI Out to KRONOS MIDI In, KRONOS MIDI Thru to PA5X --- Set up like this the FCB1010 Works but not the Master Keyboard

Hi Dave
I clearly see your dilemma - I'll mess around with my FCB, Kronos, and PA4 but I don't think I'll come up with a solution without something like this:-
https://www.midisolutions.com/prodmrg.htm
FCB-OUT to .........................MERGER-BOX-IN1
KRONOS-OUT to ..................MERGER-BOX-IN2
MERGER-BOX-OUT(1or2) to ...PA5X-IN
All MIDI is merged and the PA5x can then react to relevant channels etc...
Hope this helps

Thank you
I found a work around actually - I remembered the FCB1010 MIDI OUT was labeled MIDI OUT/THRU which I thought was just hyperbole. Turns out it isn't.
The GLOBAL Setting for the FCB1010 allows for MIDI Thru.
So oddly enough I sent the KRONOS OUT to FCB1010 IN, (Which Merged KRONOS with 1010) FCB1010 OUT to the PA5X and all is working!
EDITED!! -- One caveat however - When I turned everything back on - The FCB1010 was giving me an Error Code -88- which I believe is for Bad RAM.
-- Fix was the startup sequence - you must start the MIDI IN Device after the FCB1010, or disconnect the MIDI IN during FCB1010 Power On.
A bit of a pain, but I can get used to it - Saved me $75 for the MIDI Merger _________________ Dave Kalbach
