At last Pa4X pro users , you can proceed upgrading your Pa4X with your custom resources in Pa5X ...

- Fixed INTRO1/END1 translation bug issue
- Style editor is complete with all editing functions that were missing
- Multiple Time signature in Style added
- Pa4X SongBook is converted properly (under investigation)
- Mid file is created after importing & saving time sliced stereo samples and can also be imported in DK sounds for first time.
- External Sequencer support.
- Programming chord progressions for the Intros and Endings on the Pa5X
- Insert and Master FX in KBD Set are automatically selected by the Upper 1 Sound
- Separate Drum Editor in home style edit
- Editable cue mode for Ending 3 in Styles
- Scale/Tuning page added to Style Edit mode
- Catch for sliders and pedal works properly
- Pa5X now can format and use microSD cards of up to 1TB
- More fast saving functions than v1.1
- Support of microSD Protected and non-protected Add-Ons in Local (Area) TAB and only at Pa5X International version.
Add-Ons can be created as pkg files only by KorgPa and official distributors and is a paid service with prerequisites.
( older PaSeries protected resources can't be supported any more )
- Pa5X Factory & Local resources will remain edit protected ...
And development is still in progress ...

The important is that after this new firmware OS update you have to re-convert from scratch all Pa4X resources and this time
almost all will be converted properly , contrary all already wrongly converted resources won't work properly after loading new OS.
Watch here a useful tutorial of converting Pa4X resources https://youtu.be/qv8cin_wtFc?t=170

Yep, pa5x is really close to be like pa4x, so next update will have new features that pa4x doesnt have. For me this update is 0.9, and next version will be 1.0 with anything new, different from pa4x.

I hope we will have main update this year.

Pa5X has already many functions outside Pa4X and some more already mentioned in this v1.2 brief review.

It's a shame that factory can still not be over-written...that would be very useful.

I wonder what the reasoning is for that decision? And indeed why there is a "protect"switch in the system area at all, if that is the case.

Pa4X has full resources saving format BKP where altered factory resources can be saved , Pa5X do not have this option since it can't
handle monolithic files over 1 GB , so what is the meaning to alter factory resources when you can't back up them and all your work
will be accidentally lost in any loading mistake or after any restore ? IMO none ...
WavesArt also protects resources if outside User Banks and fully agree with this.

That's fine, I disagree, of course haha...but it should be owners choice, not forced!

You don't seem to understand the real meaning ...
Let's say you modify all factory styles and you work for it for 3 months , in next major OS update all your work will be lost
since you can't save factory resources or do you prefer to stay on an outdated OS for this waste of time work ?
Do you get the real meaning now ? Very Happy

There is always a hardware or software valid reason when a function is discontinued !

After you slice a loop in the pa5x, does it have the option to import it into a style now? Or did they miss that?

Thanks Antony

Have the stereo sample compression bug been solved?

when you say that the pa5x can't handle 1gb files, does it mean that pa4x sets larger than 1gb can't be converted?

I'm on vacation and the only issue that I don't know if has been solved , but I guess it has not !

Pa4X & Pa5X can't handle a simple monolithic file like BKP backup over 1 GB , this is an unsolved issue in Pa4X where you
can't save a BKP file for over 1024 Mb custom resources size set ( I have reference since 5 years in Pa4X section).
That's why there is no BKP full resources backup in Pa5X and that's why you can't alter factory resources ... they can't be saved !

After unlocking factory protection, it is also possible to save them and then reload them!
This is also the case with the previous Pa4x, Pa700, Pa1000, ... models!
On the other hand, they can also be reloaded manually!

STYLE, PAD, KBS, .....

So it makes sense!

On the other hand....
- Full Sequencer (SONG EDIT) is not yet available, this is a wrong information(
No SONG EDIT (Copy/Paste, Cut/Insert, Transpose, Velocity, Quantize, Delete, etc...)

- External Sequencer support ... you all can explore attached PDF of Update.
Copy/Paste, Cut/Insert, Transpose, Velocity, Quantize functions were missing since one year from main Style editor and users
managed to live without them until this Update and in next one , those SEQ functions will be addressed too as many others.

- Pa4X - 700 support BKP full resources , it's waste of time to back up and reload separately modified factory resources.

- You can manually save Pa5X factory resources as in any PaSeries , but it's really silly IMO when you have a file browser in Pa5X
with unlimited number of folders and files that you can built and organize any kind of factory resources in a far better architecture
in any media storage in one step plug and play in any other Pa5X like a rent one in gigs/live performances ...

Get used with this new architecture arranger , 20 years have passed since Pa800 / Pa1X !
