Who here owns Omnisphere 2? Anybody that does, have you tried their Sonic Expansion? And how do they sound? I have both Omnisphere 2 and Keyscape and decided to do an update and seen they have expansions now that sound FREAKING AWESOME.
I may sample some things for Kronos users, lets see what happens. |

I haven't got Omnisphere, but would be interested (if I interpret your last line correctly) in drone sounds (nice ones not "chilling" sounds..)... _________________ Kronos 2-88 & X73, Kurzweil MicroPiano, Spitfire Albion V Tundra, BBCO Core, Nylon Guitar Ilya Efimov, Xtant Audio Uilleann Pipes - in use

Omnisphere has plenty of drone type sounds out of the box, plus it's fairly easy to design your own. It is also possible to import your own sounds and subject them to Omnisphere's extensive range of effects and sound design features, including granularisation, arpeggiation, FM, harmonia, and suchlike. Each Patch in Omnisphere, equivalent to Program in the Kronos, can have up to 4 oscillators, and up to 8 Patches can be combined into a Multi (equivalent to Combi in Kronos), and these can be layered, key-zoned, velocity-switched, and modulation-switched, making Omnisphere a very versatile adjunct to Kronos.
Not tried Omnisphere's Sonic Expansion yet.

Let me see what I can do. I am going to go ahead and purchase SampleRobot 2 to see what it can do even though I have MainStage and AutoSampler is a plugin within MS to sample. Give me a few weeks.
I am going to purchase one Sound EXTENSION later today. As a matter of fact it will be this one:

Sounds really awesome, mainly the second audio in the demo. Push the right arrow. |

I looked through Omnisphere and believe it or not they do not have the "drones" you are looking for. I say 98-99% of them are "chilling, pad type" drones.
I will look at my other VSTIs I use such as REFX NEXUS 3 and I forgot I use to have all the EASTWEST stuff with their subscription services.
Geez I truly have forgotten just about everything. Take care of your bodies, do not injure your spine or you will regret it later in life as you get old!! |
