I am running Mac Sonoma on an Apple Silicon Mac mini. I can run the standalone Plug-In Editor but there's no way to make it run inside Logic Pro as an Audio Unit, the "Validation Tool" keeps failing.

Could it be that the AU component from Korg is v2 and Logic Pro only supports v3 these days?

First make sure it is compatible with your OS. Check the PDF table below.

The Kronos Editor, standalone or plugin, is not intended to be used as a sound generator. Its intended use is to facilitate editing of the Kronos Programs, Combinations and Sequences.

In order to play Kronos sounds, MIDI needs to be sent directly to the Kronos from the audio software, and the audio from the Kronos routed, either via USB, or SPDIF, or analogue audio to an audio interface.

This. You have to set up two tracks in Logic Pro, one sends control information to Kronos to select patches, send controller data, etc. The other send the midi notes for Kronos to play. I never did much with it. Too convoluted.

But OS compatibility with the editor software is another story. It was at least 3 years ago that I played with it. Apple OS updates break 3rd party apps all the time. I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the old Kronos plugin doesn't work any more. You might have to get the latest version of MidiQuest to make it work.

Was not necessary. Just a week later (not even a computer restart, or perhaps some Logic update in the middle) the plugin was validated by Logic and is working as expected. There seems to be some kind of race condition somewhere because the plugin version took 50 seconds to initialise (?!) during validation, but Logic is now happy with it.

For the record, I'm running Sonoma 14.2 on Apple Silicon, and Logic Pro 10.8.1
