I realised yesterday that when I use Acid Pro to record an addition track i have been recording all existing track which causes an over kill and clipping.

My setup is
Keyboards into mixer
Mixer into sound card on computer with Audio in & out
So when I play into a new track I hear track 1 etc and add items to the new track which adds what I played & data from track 1 etc.

How does one work around this?

Thanks

Jaimon

Hi!

I had the same problem as you until two years ago when I bought a multitrack audio interface.
The way I used to work around that problem was that: I had an Audiophile 24/96 PCI and a Behringer 1204. The Audiophile OUT went into the Tape In of the mixer, and the tape out of the mixer went into the Audiophile In. The main out of the mixer went to speakers.
Nothing strange about that, but Behringer has got that good opportunity to decide if to route or not the tape in (signal flowing from the computer) to main out (signal flowing to the speakers and back to the computer) and/or to the control room (alternative output generally mirrored by phones output).
So what I played on the Keyboard could be heard from phones (linked to the phones/control room output) and what was coming from other tracks on the pc was routed to main mix just when listening, but not routed when recording...

I hope I've been clear enough.
If not don't warry, just ask and I'll explain again in other words.

Regards

First thank you Diego for you reply and I was about to go your route. I have the same sound card as you but I have older mixer Peavy unity 2000. I went to the music store yesterday and I mentioned my issue and they were able to help me with it.
Now i have the out of the sound card going into 2 channel's (LT & RT) & then using the monitor or on some mixers AUX to IN on the sound card. When recording I just have to turn down the MON/AUX. I am so happy! I wasn't sure what to expect when I realized my issue.

Thanks Again

Jaimon
