Hi all.

Just messing around here tonight with a demo version of a screen capture program, and I thought it would be interesting to use it to show a quick example of how I loop samples.

So here you go.....

http://www.irishacts.com/misc/looping/loop.swf

Sorry no HTML file to go with this, but if you have Flash player installed (which is very likely) the file should open in your browser.

Regards.
Sharp.

hi! Really interesting! The software is really similar to v-synth and kurzweil sampling system.

Sharp,
Very interesting...just the thing I am getting into.
Nice capture program also.

What program is that you use to edit the samples? Will it work on virtually any type of sample (KSF, WAV, KRZ Akai ect.)?? Or only wave.

Thanks,
Lee

Hi lee.

I use Extreme Sample Converter and it reads/writes a very wide range of formats.
http://www.extranslator.com/

It won't do KORG format, but it's still 100% useful. Just convert the samples to WAVE or AIFF and your ready to load them into any KORG Keyboard. If you use the problem with Awave Studio, then you don't even have to create the mutisamples.

Regards.
Sharp.

Sharp,
So...How does Awave studio know how I want the samples assigned in a multi-sample? Lets say I have 15 samples to spread across the 76 keys?

I just bought the Chicken systems TRANSLATOR PRO and I have already been able to convert a sample/program to my PA2...from another format I had laying around. BUT, I'm just getting started so I really don't know how good it is going to work.

I converted it to Korg Triton, then imported to PA2...seemed to work, but I have only done 1 sound.

Now I'm off to learn more about the PA programming for sounds and effects. So, once I get a sound made I can tweat it to soud great. Can I assume if the samples are of very high quality...I can make a very high quality voice?

I'm wanting to build about 15 great high quality orchestral sounds to augment the bad ones in the PA. ANd I will pla with other tpes of sounds too. Smile

Lee

Sharp,

You are the expert around here when it comes to sampling. Would you know what is the minimum amount of samples required to make a multisample and what is the maximum?

Ive come across folders with 60 samples and i'm wondering if all these samples can make up one multisample and hence one sound. These samples are directly sampled from a piano.

MrKorg, when it comes to how many samples should be in a KMP or in any
other Waveform there is no rule, it all deppends what the instrument is.
Sometimes i sample sounds with one single note and it sounds 99.9% as
original (thats mostly when sampling single waves from monophonic leads)
like Saw, Sine and else but not just in there but many other instruments and
sometimes i use 30 notes per instrument and it would sound maybe 80% close
to the original i was sampling. It all deppends on the complexity of the wave.

I can also vouch for loop-making features of extreme sample converter (ExSC). Best I've come across, and have used it in many of our libraries. Also has auto-looping and X-FADE. One of the nicest converting programs out there, as well.

i tend to use sample robot then save it as a soundfont2 instrument which maps all the keymaps

then i use awave studio open up the soundfont2 instrument then save it to korg format or what ever format i require

i use extreme sample convertor for converting my e2 libraries to various formats and it is a good program but the looping in both sample robot and extreme 3 are not as good as my looping programs in the actual synths
and samplers as they click in these and i always end up crossfading again in the sampler

they are alright tho for vsti based instruments as they use the same pc format and mac so they dont suffer the same looping problems as hardware
