IT'S THE SHITS. I'm currently dealing with Future Shop Canada, a subsidiary of Best Buy. I'll never buy another big ticket item at either place ever again. I purchased a 42 in. flat panel TV in August. It went tits up in the beginning of October. After a rude floor salesperson brushed off my phone call, I called the store manager to get proper help. He turned out too be just another jerk.

Now, here's the cruncher. I'm told to call the manufacturer and do the leg work by myself - no help, no guidance, no direction. Bloody crap. I get routed to Argentina, back to the States, thence to Canada, first to Best Buy, then back to Future Shop .... and around in a loop we go. Finally, after another 3 weeks of bullshit, a technician is assigned to come out to make repairs. He declares the unit not worth repairing and files a report.

Now the fun starts. After waiting a few more weeks, I decide to call national customer service to determine what the hold up is. They ask me to call the store, who then in turn ask me to call customer service. When I finally get an authorization number for a replacement, I call the store to provide them with the information, but they refuse to take it over the phone (I'm 120 km round trip to the store) and when I tell them I'm not coming in to provide the same thing they can very well take over the phone, they get nasty again. I'm now livid. So, I call the national customer service and ask for a supervisor/manager. She's sympathetic and tries to get some action. That was 2 weeks ago and she failed to return my calls.

Back to headquarters and they haven't a clue what's going on.

Absolute bullshit. It's still not resolved. I was warned by two of my sons about their horrendous customer service, but I didn't listen. I'll never shop there again.

Try calling the main headquarters number, not the national customer service. Tell them you want to speak with the CEO or President of the company as you have a disastrous situation on your hands. Most corporations have a special division that handles these kinds of complaints and they are usually able to expedite results. I've used this method successfully 2 or 3 times over the years and got the results I wanted.

And if it makes you feel any better I went through the same thing with a very reputable store in the states. I ended up having to go to one of their service centers and one look at the place and I knew I was in for trouble. I did a lot of leg work but got everything resolved and had a new unit drop shipped to me rather quickly. Ironically the national service distribution and repair center had a helluva time getting the bad unit back from the service guy, even after I supplied them with all the info including the claim check. Hopefully a dose of their own medicine so-to-say gave them a new appreciation for what people go through.

Good luck,

Marc

I hear ya, been there done that, got the flippin T-Shirt, in my case Irish Telco Eircom. It went on for a period of 7 month, they gave me the run around, until I had enough and filed an official complaint with the irish telco regulator, this case number I forwarded to them, guess what? I got a call back from a seductive female voice trying everything in her power from here on " to please me", if you get my drift. Wink

Kick arse Bro, set them an ultimatum and talk to something like a consumer protection agency at the same time, you will have similiar in Canada, put that case on record.

I know how this sucks, and at some stage of the game, I just refused to get further upset by it, I just looked at it like a slapstick, and that's what it is.

I finally got a partial resolution; but I had to keep bugging HQ'S arses to get it. They didn't have an exact replacement at equal value, so I had to ante up another $300, although for a superior TV. But, what an asinine explanation the store manager gave me for the delay, lack of refund etc., etc. Needless to say, I won't shop there or any Future Shop/Best Buy ever again. Anyone doing business with them, it's caveat emptor. They'll charge you an arm and a leg for extended service (e.g., another $400 for 4 years). If you opt to do without, you're on your own to go after the manufacturer.

This idiot manager tried to convince me that they're just a retailer and his analogy of my complaint was like trying to go back to a gum machine to get a refund for a bad ball. Actually, in retrospect, that's exactly what I ended up facing - a f*ck*ng dumb ass. Anyway, lesson learned.

Cheers,
Eric

don't you guys have a better business bureau?

in america we do. it's very useful and nearly everytime when you file a complaint your problems are taken care of.

it's also useful especialy with mechanics to call there first and hear their reputation.
