Hi

Just got a KP3 - wow!

Working with the mic input, and using headphones, I hear quiet but noticeable digital interference - very high frequency blips, hisses. These change in nature when I move my finger on the touch pad. I tried to discount all other possibilities - powered down all other gear, tried different mics, different cables, even tried plugging in my bass - the sound is there all the time.

The Line inputs seem as clean as a whistle, on the other hand.

Are the 'all like that'? Or do I have a dodgy one?

Many thanks

Robin

Hmmm. Sounds like you've eliminated all other possibilities. But just to make sure - have you tried taking it to another location (with clean power) and see if the problem persists?

Is the mic trim all the way down? I've almost never been able to turn it up with a good dynamic mic (Shure SM58). Btw, what mics have you tested with? What cabling?

Is the touch pad otherwise operating correctly?

Other than that it might be time to call the reseller and see if they can replace it.

Is the noise recordable?

Thanks for the reply. I took the KP3 back to the retailer to compare it with another new one they had. Exactly the same noise on both units, in entirely different environments, using different cables and different mics. We concluded 'they're all like that' - no problem, as I can use the line inputs just as easily.

If I can grab a minute I'll record the noise and post it. Sounds exactly like the internal mic pre is just not well shielded, and picks up RF interference from the processor.
