Sad to say, but I don't think it's that hard to get a used OASYS 88 for less that $5500. There is not a large market for used OASYS keyboards, and after failing to sell it for a few months, most sellers will drop their price. I've seen many sell for between $4500 and $5500. And if a buyer is willing to pay another $1K+, why wouldn't they just buy a new one for a haggled price from a retailer?
From my experienced, the used price for music equipment is on average 60% of the current retail price. $8500 * 60% = $5100.

I have seen 3 cases in last 3 weeks on ebay to support his idea. Use completed search listing option and there you go |

I sold my Oasys a couple months ago in the $5000-$5500 range. Of course I tried to get more money, but after trying for a few months I gave up. During that time, I watched eBay, craigslist, Korg Forums, and Karma Lab Forums to see the prices they were selling for. Sometimes people sold them for higher, often with extras like an included flight case worth $500+ alone, and sometimes people sold them for lower. I've seen them sell for as low as $4000 for an Oasys 76 or $4500 for an Oasys 88 - and sometimes with free shipping, so subtract another $100-200. At the time I sold mine, there were four completed auctions on eBay for the Oasys 88 and the highest was $5500 with free shipping. I'll admit I let mine go somewhat cheaply, but the buyer was young and enthusiastic so I felt it was going to a good home. One other thing for me is I didn't want to sell through eBay because of the hassle and risk of shipping the Oasys. If you limit yourself to local sales, it's harder to find a buyer. And a final consideration for me was I bought mine new for only $7200, so it wasn't as big of a loss as if I bought it for $8500.
I think a lot of people are in denial when selling their Oasys, thinking they can get most of their money back. I've seen people list theirs for $8000, then drop it to $7500, $7000, etc... and in six months they're down to $6000 or less. As Sina said, why pay $6200 for a used one when you can buy it new for $1000 more? And if you can afford $6200, then you can afford $7200.
Oasys 88 for $4000:

Current price from GC in West Palm Beach
Oasys 76: $5995+ 1GRam+tax: out of the door at $6,515
Oasys 88: $7995+Ram+tax: $8644
I talked to the manager at GC in FLD and she told me they are getting rid of their inventory.
It seem that the value of the 88 is holding.

Sina, not saying that I don't believe you but if I get one for that price from where you say I can, I'll send you $100.00 (via paypal) for showing me where to get it. We'll see in two weeks. Thanks in advance Sina for looking out and telling everyone. |

I think the dealer cost for an OASYS 76 is around $6K, so that price is believable - but they'd probably only sell it that cheap if they were really looking to get rid of their stock. |
