I have seen some video of players using the KP3 pad to trigger scales and notes and such, but it seems the pad can only send CC changes... I would like to use the KP3 to trigger other hardware synths... any answers or tricks?

Here's the video... get past the beginning... and try to tolerate the trumpet sound to see what I'm getting at.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3646993938357481649&q=korg+kp3+notes&total=5&start=0&num=100&so=0&type=search&plindex=2

By the way, this thing is unbelievable... I wish they had retained or expanded on the vocoder from the KP2 that tracked and followed pitch (#88 I think)... this is by far the best effect on the KP2 and could have glorious uses if they could trigger synth sounds like this vocoder does. #1 on my version 3 request...

Beep.

The description of the video said that the guy use a program called Bidule.

http://www.plogue.com

I suppose you could use the editor and change some of the buttons from sending CC to sending a note, but for the pad section you would probably have to create a program to change CC into whatever you want to control (unless you want to control a CC parameter on your hardware synth.

What about a hardware synth? Any hope of working note/pitch data from the pad?

I think that you would need software in between. With something like bidule you can do anything you want since its modular.

hey that's me...

I know it's cheesey but I liked the trumpet sound.

if you like I can post the patch somewhere that translates x movement on the pad to notes.

Can you not assign the buttons to MIDI note messages with the KP3 editor?

Also, if you're using Logic, you can use the 'transformer' objects in the Environment to change the CC#s into note messages. Bidule or Reaktor will also do this for you.

To the maker of the video... your use of the KP3 as a note trigger is inspiring... does it work with the motion capture looper button as well? Well done!

I don't use software for live music, so that's why I want the CC's to instead be note data... for hardware synths like the SH32... the question is, does the editor software work to change the kp3 messages inside the machine from cc to note, or does it (as i suspect) let your computer receive the cc messages and convert them to note for your software synth only.

oish1, the way you have worked with the KP3 is quite inspiring and the trumpet was a very good sample - keep it up.
