i just bought a microkontrol used off of ebay . it seemed to work ok until i tried to use it with reason.
from what i understand , it's supposed to be plug and play with reason and it should display what instrument is selected and easily control that instrument , but i can't get reason to respond at all .
reason successfully recognized the microKontrol as a control surface , and it even detects the controls and keys ports if i try to edit the control surface details , but none of the instruments respond to any of the keys , sliders , encoders , pads , or joystick .
in fact , the only way i can get any response at all is if i set portA and portB to be connected to 2 of the external midi buses in the advanced midi prefs . then i can control one instrument with the keys and another instrument with the controls . that's not what i want to do . i want to be able to switch between the instruments and control the current one .
i called korg tech support and we made sure that i was doing everything right . i have all the latest drivers and firmware installed . the problem persists . he said that the main LCD is supposed to show what instrument is being used , but mine still just says "reason" or Rs____ depending on the scene i select (which native mode is supposed to override) . the best explanation i can come up with is that the unit is not able to enter native mode for some reason .
does anyone have any ideas about this ? anyone heard of some way that native mode could have been disabled ? also , does anyone know if there is a way to force a factory reset on the unit ? the korg guy didn't seem to know how to do it .
thanks for reading . please comment . any comment at all would be appreciated so i can at least see that real people are hearing my problem .
Reason won't respond to microKontrol. Native Mode Problem?
