|
|
Hi everyone,
I got one of these cheap SCSI-USB adapters and I need a Korg SCSI/USB driver. I'm running Windows XP. The adapter I bought is eBay's item 320209683053 which doesn't look bad for the price (if it works).
I studied almost all the topics and threads regarding USB connection but none of those could solve my problem. _________________ (¯`'¿.¸digitop¸.¿'´¯)

well, i was having the problem with my drivers not working that I was downloading from the website for usb2exchange, but then when i finally found the cd that came with it and loaded them it began to work just fine, and i'm in vista also, so i would think xp should be no problem. do you not have the original software disk? there must be drivers on the internet for your cable, though all this stuff is becoming outdated by now _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Hey George,
There came a mini disk with the adapter but none of the drivers on that disk helped. I contacted that eBay sller and he suggested me to go to syquest website. That site has an option that scans your computer and updates all your drivers. I honestly didn't feel comfortable to have my computer scanned by a site I know nothing about. Is there any other USB solution for this purpose? _________________ (¯`'¿.¸digitop¸.¿'´¯) |

Now I'm curious as to which operating system the disk is supposed to be for. Does it say Windows XP? If so there must be some reason why those drivers aren't working. And do you know for sure it's the drivers where the problem is? _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

The disk have drivers for various items and operating system. There are drivers for SCSI-USB 1.1 data transfer, IDE adapters, HD enclosures, LAN connections, cardreaders, etc. OS's available on disks are 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP (some of the option). XP should not require driver for external HD (which is Triton's HD)
I'm 100% positive my current issue is the driver. When I check the "computer management", the usb port used with this adapter is showing the yellow icon on it which which refers to an unknown device (in this case is the Triton's HD)
I literally tried every driver in every folder of the disk, nothing worked. _________________ (¯`'¿.¸digitop¸.¿'´¯) |

And you're sure that your TS is prepped, meaning you have restarted it as a target drive and not source (in global)? That was my problem the first time. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

I'm sure as far as I know. I've read the parameter guide and followed step by step.
I set the SCSI to target, selected 5 (tried other numbers from 0-7 too), then re-started the board. When board re-started and running, I started my PC while the USB was hooked up. Due to priority number chosen for the board (let say 5) the PC reacts differently for about 20 sec. at the startup which is normal.
Now, my board seems to be visible to my PC, it's shown as an external mass storage, however it is not accessible and you can't do anything with it. That's why I'm thinking that a KORG driver is needed.
In devise manager (administrative tools), the USB port connected to the board is showing disfunctioanl with that yellow "!" on it. I tried to reinstall the driver from the net, from system and system32 folders, from whatever I thought would be relevant but got no result.
There's one thing that I don't know if it has any relevance: My computer's file system is NTFS while TS's OS is base on DOS on a FAT16 (I think) platform and might be compatible with FAT32 too. This is what I need someone to comment on to see if you can access the TS's harddrive when you're running NTFS file sytem on your PC.
I started a thread to get feedback for just this NTFS file system thing. _________________ (¯`'¿.¸digitop¸.¿'´¯) |

No Korg PC driver should be required. The SCSI to USB should make the TS appear as a mass storgae device - whic hXP understands. I have no idea why in device mangler it shows yellow bang mark.
Also - you don't have to have it connected @ POR. USB is plug and pray. _________________ Care for a jelly baby?

Then the SCSI-USB adapter I got is not functioning. Unfortunately I don't have any other device to hook it up to and can't think of any other way to check the adapter. Is there any other method to access TS's hard diskc via a PC? _________________ (¯`'¿.¸digitop¸.¿'´¯) |

Hmm ... it could be that there is some other USB device driver getting in the way - Windoze blows. Dod you have any other USB devices plugged in.
If not, then I am afraid that you'll have to purchase a different device - perhaps the same one that George and I are using - from Adaptec. _________________ Care for a jelly baby?

The SCSI/USB that I got is the famous "Castlewood" junk. If you type "castlewood ORB Drive" in google, you'll see how many individuals have problem with this device. The company is vanished but however their devices are still being sold with "castlewood" name being removed from items. Mine just has a sticker saying SCSI to USB adpater. After several hours of research, I found a driver from DriverGuide but it's not compatible. The problem is with the adapter and I need to get another one it seems
