A great series of articles from Sound on Sound magazine (UK) called Synth Secrets.
This starts with total basics (what's an oscillator, what's an envelope, etc.) then through the development of analog synths, digital synths and tutorials on programming various types of sounds. _________________ I sing the body electric |

No amount of books can exceed the learning experience of reaching out and grabbin the knobs.....and hearing the change in first person..... _________________ Time Can be Mastered,

absolutely true....although
I found my synth Theory through trial and Error on an old Arp Axxe....
It was a very good rudiment teacher for synthesis ...very quick with its limitations....No midi Curve to muddy the way..... _________________ Time Can be Mastered,

try this..
There is a free synthesiser book available here-->http://www.noisesculpture.com/
How To Make A Noise
a comprehensive guide to synthesizer programming
..perhaps the most widely ready book about synthesizer programming. It is a comprehensive, practical guide to sound design and synthesizer programming techniques using:
* subtractive (analog) synthesis
* frequency modulation synthesis (including phase modulation and ring modulation)
* additive synthesis
* wave-sequencing
* sample-based synthesis
The free version is very interesting; I've just order the book... |
