|
|
| Hi, I recently unearthed an old ER1 I've had for years, it works perfectly except the master volume knob does nothing and it is stuck at an extremely low volume. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix something like this? Thank you. |

| Maybe you can start by using some compressed air on the knob, it could be residual dust. If not maybe you might have to replace the pot. |

| DeOxit D5 or similar pot cleaner (see Radio Shack or your local electronics store) will clean it out if it's dirty. |

Thanks for the info. I had taken the unit apart to try to clean it if it was dirty and left the project for a few hours. I cleaned it up but cannot remember where a few of these little metal tabs go, does anyone know where I could find a photo of one of these or a diagram for putting them back together?
Thanks. |

| Thank you, would be a huge help. I forgot to snap a pic before I took it completely apart and am regretting that. |

| So I opened the unit and cleaned anything dirty but the output is still extremely quiet and the master volume knob has no effect, any ideas? |

| Wait - did you physically remove the pot from the board or did you disassemble the pot? |

| I didn't remove anything from the board. I just opened it up and cleaned things up a bit. I did not disassemble any of the pots, not exactly sure how to do that but if it would solve the problem I would open it up again. |

| I should note that there is no scratching sound when I turn the pot, nothing at all happens, I can hear the sounds coming out faintly with the amp at full blast but the volume just has no effect whatsoever. |

Do you have a multimeter? That would be helpful right now. _________________ Korg: EMX1 (x2), ESX1, ER1, EA1, R3, MicroKorg, MicroSampler, KP2, KP3, KPMini, KO1, KP Pro

| Unfortunately I do not, It's on my list of things to acquire since I want to start learning more about electronics and repairing my own gear. I guess I might have to shelve this project for the moment since it was not an easy clean and fix. |

I was just confused by you talking about the "metal tabs."
I think Sohatyi is right: get a multimeter and we can check it out. |
