This was begun for my son, on March 12th. It was finished, for a much more complex value that I still have not come to terms with.

For my son, it was that I failed to tell him how good and honorable he was, before he was lost to death. For all of the reasons, the words are simply "More than Your Heart Ever Knew", the ascending scale in the song. There are additional words, but I will keep them in my heart.

I played the piano part in the evening, then stayed up half the night trying to write parts, and the other half in the mystery of what it was. I decided to use it even though a few of you have already heard it, because it deserves to be.

John, you always touch me deeply inside.
As I've already told you, there are no words when a parent loose a son...there are no words, but there are 12 notes, and you perfectly know how to use them.

Your piano playing is amazing, so "romantic", but at the same time powerfull and expressive.
The orchestral sounds, single parts, and the overall mix get better and better!

Belive it or not, he hears this song, and he wants you to know how good you are.

I listened to it several times yesterday and I didn't know how to respond. There is too much in the music. I love that you have the expertise with the instrument and life, that you can lay out such an amazing piece with such (seeming) ease. You have a gift brother. Retired at your stage of life (as I can only imagine) you could easily keep this gift to yourself.
It is a powerful amazing piece. This powerful piece stands on its own, just as I am sure your life does. I too know that you son has known your heart. I have listened to this piece a good seven times. The ease at which you move from major to minor….color to musical color, is a delight to hear. My playing is so sloppy, nonfluid, and static compared to what you do. You training as a concert pianist is even more impressive to me than your knowledge of harmony and theory. Wow!

I know that this is the same thing, I say every month…..but….. I am glad you are here. You are a definite inspiration. Please, keep this coming. Unless you are going experimental (you know like…. Elll’s breaking it down brothers….with rap version of the Mondschein Sonate ).

Thank you...Thank you!

Elll, this is truly transcendent. I believe I know at least a small piece of your heart having heard your pieces, and this stands among the very best, I know I keep saying that about you, but I could listen to your works all night. What i wouldn't do to hear a full live performance of you greatest hits done up full with the whole shebang. What a joy that would be. Thank you so much for sharing and allowing your emotions to come thru here on our forum. If I'm the head on the OSAM body this time around as moderator you are our heart. Really love this. I can't comment on any improvements here as I'm sure you hear things you would do when you listen but it sounds amazing just the way it is. Really beautiful. And your playing sounds so confident in spite of the emotions running thru this. Astonishing actually.

Wow!!!!
Shocked
This is truly a magnificent piece of work John.
I listened to this half way through, then had to put on my headphones, and listen again, so I could really appreciate what you had going on with this piece.
Wonderful!
Thanks you so much for this.
Very Happy
Regards,

Hi John

After several listens I am still quite lost for words. This music touches me very deeply and I feel almost overwhelmed by the beauty and sadness in it.
The orchestral sounds really fill the heart, and I love the added warmth of the horns.

George says it very well, as he always does, that

I'm with the other folks here,
There's so much passion and feeling in this.
A sadness, but also a will, a meaning fighting through.
There a very few who can create that.
Best wishes Simon

Another accessible piece from you John! Wow. Keep it up. With each song presented I find your structure coming more and more together. There is clearly less randomness (or at least less of a FEEL of randomness) in this piece compared to some of your earlier pieces.

Progress is awesome when it shows, and it does here.

Great job this month. Good feeling, and wonderful choice of inspiration.

Jon

Hi ellll - Ohh man - you create so much emotion in your compositions. You play with passion !!

One thing to note - there is some serious distortion (clipping) especially in the very beginning.

Wonderful arrangement - always a pleasure to listen to !!

Cool
