MP3- have you try to..., is it work?

Post by AVI6520 »

HI dear friends :P

I have the PA 800, and I'm thinking to buy the MP3 board, and I want to know please if some one try to use it for sure, in the way that I want to know.

FIRST- There is a fact that-
If you select in song book song that contain midi,
the PA800 jump automatic to song mode,
and if you select song that contain style, [not midi], it jump to style mode. I do not want to have problems with the recording or to start it again and again with every different song...

So I'm asking if- In the same recording of MP3 file
1-Can I move from song mode to style mode in middle of the record MP3 procedure? Or you must stop the recording?

2- Can it work when I use the "song book" with midi and style in the same list of songs that I'm playing and record when selecting song by song with the "next" option?
I want to be sure that I can use it for recording all the time of playing the KB, [song by song [mix of midi and styles], like when you play live in a party,

3- And for sure- In "song mode",
IF- I can choose another midi to play it one by one with out to stop the recording procedure of the first midi that is playing now, when I'm choosing the second midi file from my USB stick,

Have some one try it for sure? [Or can try to do it for me… please… :? ]
I do not have HD, and I'm using USB stick, it's not nead to be different, but if some one do it with USB stick, it better to me to know for sure. 8)

Thanks
AVI.

Press Shift Record to start MP3 recording. After you have touched the "Record" icon to start the MP3 recorder running, press the Exit button to revert to the normal menus. The MP3 recorder will still be running. Everything you do in whatever keyboard mode you like and including vocals and harmonies will be captured by the MP3 recorder. Then press Shift Record again, and touch the "Stop" button, then you will be prompted for the file name to save the recording from RAM memory to HD or USB device.

Hi !
Is it possible on that device to record the signals on the inputs of the PA800.
I mean when I play live with my band, I would like record the output of the main mixer of the band, so I record the full mix with other instrumetns.

Hi vip,

Yes you can, there is a Global setting "Input Routing" that allows Input 1 & 2 to connect Direct to the final mix and be recorded to MP3 along with other keyboard sounds generated on the Pa800. The vocal harmoniser is disconnected when you do this.

No it does not, the mp3 records audio output from the keyboard.

The sequencer records MIDI data and the Song is played as a MIDI file, maybe when you loaded your .SET you overwrote some program you had used in the MIDI file

Yes but there will be a loop, I mean :

[My PA800] ---> [Analog Mixer] <---- Other instruments
---| inputs-------------|main out
---|---------------------|
---|---------------------|

Won't the mp3 device record twice the sound of the PA800 and have a double effect ? Is it possible to avoid that ?

(I am not sure my little schema above is clear...)

Hi vip,

Yes there will be a loop if you do that! So if you want to record using the MP3 recorder on the Pa800, set the send level on the mixer to 0 for the Pa800 "input" signals. I assume you have at least two buses on your mixer, so you can still route the Pa800 sounds via the mixer (on a separate bus) to your amplifier if you wish.
