Hi Guys

I nearly didn't get anything up for June due to being very busy with work and family matters this month, but then came up with this melody and recorded it this morning.... it's a bit rough here and there.... sorry!

This started playing, and I immediately grabbed my headphones.
This was the perfect song for the end of my very busy day.
Lovely!
Very Happy

What soaring lovely-ness! I really love your technique and phrasing. This is really a lovely piece. With a little polish, this could be a true gem. Um. Polish. All I can suggest, and I'm nit picking to try to find something, is that some of the melody seems to jump back and forth as if there's an unintentional delay between the piano and synth pad. If it was intentional then I apologize. Also, just a bit more variety in the synth pad, maybe helping it along with an entirely different pad here and there. But I'm only trying to suggest and not criticize as it's really a beautiful melody captured in such a spontaneous way. I can't do these pieces without dozens of hours!!

Soaring is indeed a good word for this one.

I heard the part George was referring to. I believe that a bell/glock sound to announce the attack of the string would be a nice echo and would add the variety he mentioned (in other words the bell would hit at the same time as the string pad on a single note).

This is a lovely track. Though you feel it was hurried, it was enjoyable. More please!

Jon

How beautiful !
So i admit to being a softy guy. Music brings me emotions, perhaps more easy than to others... But, what a lovely moody song.
My music taste is "wide"... Hardrock to ballads... This was a lovely ballad with nice musicality to it.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Dee,

Wow - you whipped this up one morning - nice Smile

If this is what you call rough - well, it doesn't sound rough to me!

Cool

Hi Stephen, George, Pecca, Jon and Dr Who

Thanks so much for listening and glad you liked the melody.

Yes I really did slap this together on the triton, and have plans to arrange it properly with much greater care in the future.

I get what you mean about the 'echo' thing in the 2nd half not being clear George. It's because the string sound I used doesn't attack the notes on the beat.... most of the string sounds have this delay ..... I tried 'Arco strings' but then found it hard to get the legato sound.

Doubling the string tune with glock sounds like a great idea, Jon - thanks for that.

If nobody minds, I would like to develop this song for July...or another month in the future .... Question ...

Thanks again for listening!

Dee

Hi, ... Dee,

You are perfection to a fault when you write... !!! GREAT STRUCTURE!!!

Now just pour a new dose of emotion and power into it and you are home free....pound the old piano a bit..(but not too much...)

I believe there is real possibility to develop into a fine composer, and I hope you pursue the idea!! Keep trying for the classical and related ideas, and use your ability in popular to work into different areas and genres !!!

Thanks for posting this!! Its Great!! (Just needs more "velocity"... Question )

Hi Johnny

More velocity!!!! I'll try..... Very Happy

I was really just capturing a melody that came to me, and hope to develop this into something much longer with a better arrangement. For example I actually wanted the strings to anticipate the melody when it repeats - so swapping the piano and string parts. And much more detail in the other string lines.

But all in good time...

Thanks for listening,

Really good to see you around here again,

Regards from
Dee

Sorry to be so slow in responding. I have my computer behaving again. Ditto to all the above.. At the beginning it sounded like the soundtrack to an epic film. This piece is so well build and complete. I guess Johnny would say "Great Structure". It is a grand theme, the stuff that movie are made of. You should be scoring, girl! I love the feel as always...When Johnny talks about being a fine composer...there is little I could add.

I enjoy your work and your spirit. Please keep at it. Who knows maybe you may end up teaching less and writting more in the future. Whatever the future holds, I thank you for what you do! It is always a pleasure to listen!

Hi Johnny - Thanks for listening again - glad to hear it is growing on you Very Happy

and

Hi Jazlover - thanks for your kind words and glad you enjoyed it. I really overdid it on the reverb, but felt like wallowing in it. Yes the hope is always there to teach less, but life demands the opposite unfortunately..
Confused

Hi Dee ! Smile

I already knew this was going to be good and sure enough, it's beautiful. You've come a long way with recording and production. I love a good melody and this one is top shelf. That's a very nice skill to have. This would make good movie music don't you think? Smile

Good job Dee. Take care,

Susan

Hi Susan

So nice to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by to listen, and for the comments.

Movie music..... amazing what a slosh of reverb can do! At least the triton feels easier to use now, something I never thought I would be saying.

Congratulations on your beautiful CD - I have snooped about on your website a couple of times and also listened to the interview - many thanks for sharing it with everyone. When (and IF) I ever need something mastered, I'll know where to go!

Dee

All this in a morning, that's amazing!
Love the sense of movement throughout, and the composition.
I was thinking soundtrack, it has that big cinematic feel.
