Well done, looks awesome, and listening to these sounds here: http://www.eastwestsamples.com/details.php?cd_index=797 your'e in for some awesome samples, and hope you producegreat music. Wonder how these compare to Vienna?, as they seem quite cheap by comparison ($600, £300?)

Yes, I still am a hardware guy but I have strong need for some very high quality orchestral sounds. I do love my OASYS and I also believe it's easily by far the best workstation on the planet. But I'm also not going to try convince myself that it can do everything I need. No workstation can do it all, and the OASYS certainly needs help with Orchestral sounds. I'm sure I will still use many OASYS orchestral sounds, but only what I thing stands up to the same quality as this library.

Not sure how that priced comes up, but there is probably a catch. The actual price taken off their website is “Platinum Complete Plus $1,295.00” which is still cheap compared to VSL that's for sure.
I've been banging on about how great VSL is for years, but you have to wonder about the price when you look around at what else is on offer and you compare the quality. VST is the mother of all libraries, but it's way over priced considering it's competition.

Thanks Sharp for the reply. I'm a bit perplexed with the 16 bit/24 bit combination DVD's. I would have thought 16bit or 24, not a "mixture".
If' youre' using that laptop for the library, i hope you have plenty of Hard disk space 
Hope to hear some of your Compositions soon, thanks.

This orchestra is a dream come true, it's really amazing.
I just thing it requires a lot to work, starting from a great pc (it demands high performance hardware) and great sequenceing skills to sound real and natural.
BTW, it's a long time investment, you'll be using it for years to come.
If you can, tell us what's going on in your studio: film score projects, video game music, or what else?

The 16Bit is the original version only now updated to their new Play Format. The 24Bit edition contains everything the 16Bit version has only at a higher rate, plus you get quite a lot of additional instruments.
Technically you don't need to install the 16bit version since the 24Bit has the same sounds and more. But it's really just a resources thing at the end of the day. Apparently the maths works out that it takes twice as much power to run a 24Bit sample compared to a 16bit version.
So the idea is, they recommend you use the 24bit sounds for the solo performances in you really want super high quality on a limited resources PC budget, and the 16bit for the rest. In short you can load more sound.

Veddy jumped to the rescue and sorted me out with a Quad Core Extreme with 4GB of high speed ram. On top of that I stuck in a few nice bits of hardware that should make the PC really super indeed. That said, I still expect it to have a cow when I load this puppy into memory
It's a HUGE Library. Nearly 30 DVD's

Well, I think respected forum member, Kevin Nolan uses this book Musicworks The Guide to MIDI Orchestration,and more info on it HERE and mentions it here http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31389&highlight=midi along with a similar Library sharp has.
I suppose it's one thing listening to these East west demo's, and another, actually putting one together yourself - from scratch .
(a lot of "up till 3 am" springs to mind often)

Interesting, I take it that Play comes with the libraries.
Maybe these new samples will inspire you to start working on some more Korg sound packs like a Orchestral Assault and Organ Assault.   |
