there is a guy locally selling a MS-2000B the power supply was moved inside and now it's just like a regular keyboard that uses a PC power cable and it works very nice. Is this worth more than a regular MS-2000B, since these have the problem with the power input cutting out due to poor solder connections. He's asking $600 for it.

Please advise.

Well, if the wall-wart adapter is no biggie for you, then you could probably find a normal MS2000 for less.

I don't know about the MS2000B, but I've had two MS2000R's and never had a problem with the adapters.

I just think it's a neat idea to have the MS use the more common power cable. Has anyone tried tried doing this?

Considering a brand new R3 with full warantee is running under $550 with double the polyphony, better vocoder, software editor/librarian, and Radias based synth structure, the MS2000B is a pretty bad deal at $600. It's worth $300, tops.

Frankly, I'd rather have the R3 over the MS2K at any price.

the ms-2000 has a different character and I bought an R3 and ended up returning it for 2 reasons. the menus are very hard to navigate and the keyboard doesn't handle different scales (1/4 tone ) and too much plastic. I like the vintage feel of the MS-2000 and all the knobs, the power supply I think is the only physical downside to the MS-2000

Still way overpriced. Watch ebay. I've heard of several people getting MS2K for around $300. 4 poly and 2 timbres just isn't worth anywhere near $600 for a used VA synth. Radias Racks frequently come up under $900 and it addresses all the features you want, knobs & scales, plus 24 poly, 4 timbres, drum kit, software editor, and more. It might be more expensive, but it's a far better value.
