I think you just officially introduced winter to this year. What makes that incredible is you did it with a warm and feeling musical piece!

It is great what you have done here. The breakdown in the middle is nothing short of inspiring. While I was wondering where you were going with it, that is part of the magic and beauty of this song. The hesitations toward the end are also fantastic.

The piano and strings are classic together. In my mind it seemed like other instruments would have fit in nicely with this song, but not necessary.

Glad you hopped back on board. I think we all are feeling the pain the world is in. I just hope that some of that translates into meaningful inspiration!

Again I really enjoyed this song!

Jon

Beautiful Dee! This does seem like a winter scene.

Your songs have a simple pure beauty about them, that I love.

Thanks !

Hi Jon, Jazlover and Stephen

Thanks for listening and for the kind words. Hope it wasn't too wintery! Over here Spring is just beginning.....it's been a very long cold winter for me - glad it's over!

My goodness, such elegance and sophistication in simplicity. This is just beautiful. And how nice to hear from you. I hope things are going as well as your music. This song has a wonderful improvised feel and that is why it's so amazing when it takes unexpected turns and ends up much more flushed out than a simple improv would produce. I don't know how you come up with these. It would be interesting to hear your process in developing your pieces.

I can only agree with the others. Its very enjoyable to listen to even though its not quite my type of music. The mood of this piece somehow pulls the right strings..

well done

Hi George and Sewa - thanks for listening!

By the way, my new Truth monitors that I got 2nd hand on ebay turned out to be just GREAT..... just like new.

About how I did this song - it was quite unplanned, just sat down, pressed record and played the entire piano track from beginning to end in 'real time', no click track. Then I played along with myself, first the cello melody, then the other strings. And that was it. I didn't do much fixing, just adjusted a few velocity settings here and there.

Regards from
Dee

In a way I'm not suprised the piano was all in one take, as it had that feel, but I must say you do a fine job or performing on the fly, my own would be quite repetitive and boring.

This did actually turn out to be quite repetitive melodically - I seemed to get stuck on this one little 'tune', but kept going and let the variation come in through the chords rather. I'm not so good at improvising to be able to vary the melody and the chord progressions and the mood... all at the same time... Confused

I must confess that I got this idea to record whatever comes out, in real time, and then add other instruments to it, from our fellow OSAM-er, the elusive ellll......... where is he, by the way??...

Hi Dee,

Emotional tune - yes, reminds me of winter too. There are some very interesting chords in there - and the tune flows through - no way to tell that that it was in improv. Cool Very inspiring - especially for me as I've tried this style and have not been at all successful with it.

So your heading into Spring and we are heading in Winter here in the states. That means one could perpetually live in Spring and Summer by living in both places - just not at the same time Smile

Glad the Truths worked out for you - I remember when I got mine Smile

Cheers,

={> Art

Very nice indeed Dee! Has a bit of the Jimmy Webb feel to it for me...love your chord arrangements...the piano tone is so rich ......the ending is a nice surprise. Impressive!
CHEERS!
Ron.

It's autumn here, brown and gold leaves, mist in the morning and a chill in the air, so it's perfect!
I find this really relaxing, I love listening to the piano runs against the strings.
I'm also looking at photographs from the weekend at the moment, I'll leave this looping.

Dee...
I'm listening to your piece from about 20minutes while browsing KF...
I'm totally wordless!
That's really one of the best tune I've eard here on the forum, so full of scapes, emotions, the perfect usage of harmony, chords, unisons.
Nothing to say, but AMAZING!

Hi Guys

Thanks to all of you for stopping by to listen.

Hi Art, the chords are quite simple really, just straighforward maj/min, except for one diminished somewhere I think...

Good to hear from you again Ron - I remember some great tunes from you way back with the first OSAM.

Diego! You are too kind.... but thank you for the compliments, and glad you liked it.

And Simon I love autumn too - spring and autumn are the best, although I think Oz has left out the spring bit (only lasted about 2 days) ..... today was over 30C...that's... wait let me see.... 86F for you imperial people .... and it's only October... Confused

Dee
