output level

Post by Kor »

Hi everybody,
I'm havong my Pa@XPro for 2 months now, and i'm very satisfied with it! However there are a few problems i can't seem to solve. I hope you can help. Here's one:
The output level R&L is very weak, even when the master volume is turned to maximum. Can it be influenced in some way?

I don't think if it's your keyboard. It sounds more like your sound system.

my soundsystem can handle it, but compared to other keyboard, the output signal is very weak. Also, playing at home with headphones on, I almost always have tot put the volume to max. (Even if all the volumes are 127)

"very weak" ? That doesn't sound right. Did you buy it brand new? I wonder if it has to do with the velocity curve of your keyboard?

Hi Kor,

My volume kept fading when I first got my Pa2x . I eventually realised that I was inadvertently pressing the Assignable Switches when using the Joystick, one of which was defaulted to Sound Down and the other to Ritardand.

If you press one of the Assignable Switches while holding down the Shift Button, a window will appear with assignable choices - including Off.

Maybe a long shot but worth a try.

Kind regards

thanks for your replies, I spent quiet a bit of time now looking for wrong switches etc, can't find any. So I'm a bit worried now. Yes, bought it brand new. Does anyone have experience with the Pa2XPro output level, compared to other keyboards?

Kor,
The Pa is every bit as loud as any other board I have.
You didn't by chance adjust any of the MASTER EQ settings have you?

Since it's your phones as well as main L,R outputs...it has to be something common.

Is it when you play and/or just with songmode (MIDI's) Check that your X-FADER is in the center, and other sliders that might be way off.

I own a PA500 and if I put the volume to max with headphones on, then I probably will never hear any music again. It would blow away my ears. I cannot imagine that the amplification of Korg's top model is less than it's entry model. Perhaps it's your headphones? Is there a volume controller on the headphone that's set to low leve? (with my computer headset this once occurred to me).

Went to my local dealer today, he advised me to do the "reset procedure" -formetting etc-, to exclude a software or setting problem. Procedure went OK, problem exists... Next step will be, together with my dealer, contact KORG and look if they have an alternative suggestion, or if well have to sent it back...
Zitten we natuurlijk niet op te wachten!

I'll keep you informed...

Hi Kor

I experienced exactly the same problem with my PA1X. I have a Korg X3 synth as well and both go through a Yahama PA 300 watt system. The X3 is loud even at half volume, the PA1X very quiet particularly on piano sounds (and yes, I have checked all the voice settings to ensure they are set correctly, even trying to tweek them in sound mode). As I use this in a live band situation it was important for me to sort it out.

Someone in the PA1X forum suggested using the headphone out socket with a stereo adaptor so I could still run a left and right output to the amp. I did this and the volume is fine. I was concerned that it would degrade the sound quality but it all seems okay.

I'm disappointed that this seems to be a problem with the PA2X as well as I would like to upgrade to that. I think it's probably down the original piano samples not being loud enough as organ and brass are fine. I think Korg ought to address this as the only alternative to using the headphone outlet is to get a much more powerful amp which is a bit silly.

You might like to try this solution as the adaptor was less than a fiver and seems to have solved my problem.

Best of luck.
Kind regards
Bruce

This is a long shot but try if the talk option is on, cause it is affecting the volume of the keyboard. It happened to me couple of times to accidentally press sw2 (it was Talk option) and the volume went down.

Hi all,
Had to leave my Pa2XPro at the dealer today. They'll sent it to Korg. The dealer didn't have a solution either. And Bruce, the headphones out are having the same problem... I used your trick one time wth another keyboard, during a tour, when the left output decided that it was time to quit.
Hope my patient is better soon: have gigs planned, where it need it!

Kor,
Great news on getting a new keyboard.

Did they say it was going back to Korg intact as to have them try to investigate why your had this issu?

Just curious.

Oh, did it come with OS2?
