Hi everyone! I have a small problem using my trinity as MIDI Controller.

The fact is I want to use, one sound (using one midi channel) in the right hand, and another sound (using another midi channel) in the left hand.

So I use to do this a COMBI set up. And in my PC I use Reason.

In my trinity, the local control in global mode is off and the Global Midi Channel is number 1. In the combi set up, I set Timbre 1 as EXT and have assigned it to channel 1. Timbre 2 as EXT and assigned to channel 2.
I also set TIMBRE 1 from C1 to C3 and TIMBRE 2 from C3 to C5.

In the Reason, I assigned the channel MIDI 1 to a Synth sound (malström synth patch), and channel MIDI 2 to a Pad sound (NNXT sampler patch)

All the MIDI devices works perfect, the problem is the channel 1 sounds in all the keys, which means that it is playing in the range of channel 2 and it shouldn't be like that.

The problem gets solved if I change the Global Midi Channel or if I set another channel to the TIMBRES which is not the Global...

But, why this problem? I want the Global Midi Channel works as the other channels! Why this channel (global) is not affected by the Key zones?

If anyone knows please help! Cheers, AB.-

Well, I past here the answer of YG, maybe it can be usefull for other users, too.

Hi!

I think all your settings are right.
Please, just check that all other combi parts are setted to OFF, as not only EXT parts are sending out midi data on the GCh, but also other parts transmit.
So the result is that you're doing all in the right way but you're hearing the Malstrom patch on the whole range, as it's triggered but other combi's parts.

So, in the end, you should have:
Part 1: MIDI Ch 1 EXT
Part 2: MIDI Ch 2 EXT
Part 3-8: OFF

The problem gets solved if you change the GCh, because all zones 3-8 are still sending midi data on that channel, but no one is listening on that channel, so midi data gets lost.

Let us know if it works.

Regards,
Diego

Thanks diego, i think we can talk in spanish, don't we? jaja

Muchas gracias diego! Estoy casi seguro que ya probe lo que vos me
decis, igualmente hoy voy a volver a probar...

Sorry about my spanish!

Diego!!! Thanks for answering!!!

Item by item...

Yeah! That's not the problem with the trinity, to set up all in the global channel, simplily I didn't know this till yesterday!!!

In the very example you give, the TIMBRE 1 will sound in all the keys, and won't be affected by keyzones, because it's the global channel.

This thing didn't happen with the remanent channels...

So, the answer to your question is YES, the channel 1, which is my global is not affected by keyzones, and also if I turned the program OFF it still sounds!

Maybe is it the Reason?!

Anyone has tried this?

Just a guess here - but other than 'Combo' settings - what about keyboard split point? Have not heard for myself...Or is that too easy?
