Posted: Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:16 pm Post subject: Audio Unit Plugins (10.5.5) |
|
|
I went out and bought a mac last weekend (a bit of a surprise to myself...)
I've mainly got this for programming and audio stuff... and i'm supposed to be doing some audio unit stuff for university work...
unfortunately, the plugins I compile (and one of the ones i've got on disk) doesn't show up in AULab, garrage band, or anything else!
i found a program called 'audio unit manager', and whilst it shows the plugins (and I know they are in the right place), they cause an error when i try to verify them.
can anyone tell me what's going on?
I have friends who have the same mac os, but neither of them have this problem.... |

Are you sure the plugins you have are AU? GarageBand and AULab won't recognize VSTi or VST FX. Your AU plug ins need to be in the Components folder in your Library folder. It usually goes like this: Home/Library/Audio/Plugin/Component.

B is right ... where you did you put the .component file after building it in X-Code ?
For example you might want to place the bundle into your user's library folder like so :
/Users/<your>/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components |

Hi.
Thanks but yes i already mentioned they are in the right place.
i did notice that one of the plugins is for ppc so that won't work...
the other, its something to do with the university, for some reason (only on my mac so far...) it only works if compiled in release mode... which is odd.
but thanks for all your help
i'm really enjoying finally having a mac, after several years of wanting... |

Woops, I missed the bit about them being in the right place D'oh !
Glad to hear you got it going !
As you can't run the debug build or easily use the debugger, I've found that fprintf'ing to stderr or streaming to cerr, and then monitoring the logs in the Console can be a lifesaver when hunting down bugs or strange behaviour.
Welcome to Mac world !
