Suddenly my sliders became very sticky on all sides. Only the fourth and the master are ok. The rest of the O is in perfect condition, only used at home, first owner since september 2005. Nothing has changed in the circumstances as far as I know.

Anybody else having this problem or have you heard of it? Anybody have a clue?

I am very concerned. Confused

Thanks in advance.

No problems here, everything feels nice and smooth.
I do cover my OASYS when not in use though so maybe you need to just give it a spray with compressed air.

Sharp

Hi Sharp, sorry for not making myself clear enough but there is nothing wrong with moving the sliders.

The knobs of the sliders are sticky.

It seems like the material is damaged. Rolling Eyes

Sorry that's my fault for not reading your post correctly.
No problems here with sticky materials though. My OASYS looks exactly the same as the day when I opened the box.

Just sitting here with Chistine beside me and I just mentioned your problem out loud and she instantly commented that you must have cleaned the OASYS with something.

Not sure if that's any help or if you have even cleaned the OASYS, but I'm just passing on her thoughts on this as well in the hope it can help somehow.

If I where you, I'd be calling KORG to see if I could buy a replacement set. I don't think you will find others with this problem, but you never know.

Regards
Sharp

I can follow the thoughts of Christine and I was wondering myself too, but can't find anything different. And 2 slider knobs are perfectly intact...

and I guess youa are right and I will contact my Korg dealer.

thanks

Hi Arend - good to hear from you again - bad it's a problem. Rolling Eyes
Anyway, all knobs of the sliders are like they used to be. But I understand what you mean as it seems some materials suddenly change in a "sticky" way. I experienced this with computer-keys and radio-turnwheels. Contacting support seems the best solution to me. Let us know what was the reason once it is resolved, thanx! Cool

Hi Sharp, I hope the Oasys is indestructible and eternal, because if you ever need to buy a replacement part for the Oasys, you´ll have to wait A LOT. I ordered 2 new joysticks on May and I´m still waiting.

First ETA was September. Now it gonna be on October. I mean, come on, how simple it should be to get a new joystick? This thing even seems to be a regular keyboard part you find on all Tritons and LEs.

Anyway, I hope I won´t ever have any serious problem with my O. If I haven´t found a workaround (not an ideal fix) for my issue, I would still be with a broken joystick after FOUR months.

8K and the worst support I ever had for any product. Crying or Very sad

Ok, "good" to hear these things can happen.. Rolling Eyes because I really can't find out what happened. And I was already neurotic whith the O (not moving the lcd, carefull with knobs and buttons etc etc....)

I send a mail to Korg. When there is news I'll let you know.

Hi Arend:

I suffered exactly the same issue some months ago. I've never used any chemical product to clean the Oasys but as this happened after my Oasys was for a month or so in the technical service I cannot guarrantee what they did during that time... but I think it had nothing to do with the technical service anyway. It was as if the sliders had a protective cover film over the plastic that became sticky suddenly.
I dissasembled the plastic part of the sliders and put them in a solution of a mild detergent for a few days. After that they became as covered by a white film of glue similar to the one used to glue papers.... it took several hours to clean each plastic part with a brush, hot water and a clean cloth.
Now they are OK.
You are not alone on this!!!!! Shocked

Rgds.

Hi Indascanio, thanks for your reply and your story. You are describing what I mean, very strange.....

I mailed Korg and will wait their answer. But good to know that you solved the problem and thanks for your discription, maybe I try it if nothing works, but I'll try to avoid repairing my self.....

Weird. I haven't had that issue. I know from playing guitar, some people have more acidic sweat than others (can cause guitar strings to rust faster)... maybe some weird reaction between the plastic & the sweat/oil of your fingers? Or maybe just a bad batch of faders?

I really shouldn't know, but if there is a reaction of sweat from my fingers, it is weird that it is not infecting all the sliders....thanks for sharing

I received a few weeks ago new sliders knobs thanks to a music store with good connections to the local KORG dealer. The local dealer promised me new sliders, but didn't respond to my emails and phone calls. We are talking September 09.

But it all feels smooth again.

I kept the sticky knobs, really weird, also the sides of the knobs where sticky. But as I said, not all of them.
