You can download the *unofficial* OS update from here :

http://daz.korgforums.com/ms2kos107_2k9.zip

Here is my standard disclaimer/warning text :

"Please read the enclosed instructions carefully. If you do not feel
confident about the procedure described, please do not use the files as you
may hang your MS2000. In that case you would have to return it to Korg to be
repaired or find a PC and use the official updating mechanism to repair the
problem. You these files entirely at your risk !"

Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear ... Wink

Daz.

Note: Windows users should use the Korg provided Windows-only updater
Note: This update is for the blue MS2000 only, not the MS2000B
Note: this is not something new for your MS2000 ! I've been distributing and supporting this on a one-to-one basis for the last 8 years.

I recently used the firmware upgrade utility on korg.com to attempt to update the firmware on my Korg MS2000. Unfortunately the process failed part way through and now it doesn't work anymore (blank screen when turning it on). I've tried sending the firmware at all the available speeds with no change in the results. Only the first four preset buttons light up. I also tried a factory reset by holding the mod sequence start and 3 while powering on to no avail. Finally I tried loading the sysex messages via a Mac to see if that would work, but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Just found the thread that discusses this problem here:

My apologies for reposting the same question.

Thanks!

I had this week the same probleme, crash during flashing with korg official updater.
for feew days my korg displayed some bizard characters .*
i tried everything with success

i downloaded MIDI-OX and all sysex firmware files - there are 33files to send to your korg with a pc or mac.
send each file separeted and turn off your korg.
then you turn it on and it's done. your korg is alive

First things first, DOES this unofficial update fix the arpeggiator midi timing?

I almost CANNOT use this synth when synched to midi due to this.

BUT when I press, mod seq and 5 + power up, I get that my OS is 07

IS THIS THE SAME, do I actually HAVE the latest OS? It seems not, as the midi arp prob still there...

It DOESNT Read 1.07 however.

If this is risky I want to know its worth it.

For the folks asking, I just used the "unofficial" updater today on my MS2000 and it worked brilliantly. It updates the synth to the latest (1.07) version, mine was at 1.05. The MIDI timing still feels ever so slightly "loose", but the arpeggiator issues are almost entirely gone and the timing is good enough for what I need. Before the update it was unusable. FWIW, I'm synching the MS2K to Ableton via an iConnect Midi4+ and it works great. Oh, and even though the display reads 07, the version 1.07.

Daz - not sure if you frequent this board anymore, but I wanted to personally thank you for taking the effort to package this up. Saved me a ton of headaches, appreciate it so much!
