Thanks Korg for this wonderful emulation of the ER-1. I hope you're already working on a version with sampling - an emulation of the ES-1 or the ESX. And of course, EA-1/EMX for non-drum synthesis.

This would be cool... not sure how they would pull off the sampling aspect though since there is no dedicated input jack.. more than likely it'd have to be through some sort of file-sharing, or maybe they could also release yet another (unfortunately) proprietary connector like the camera one for loading stuff off sd cards.

Many music apps for iphone/ipad transfer files wirelessly or through itunes sync. There's also copy/paste standards that many apps are using to transfer audio files between apps, Sonoma and Intua being two companies with such protocols that other app developers can use. And aside from sd cards, the ipad camera connection kit's usb port also supports any class-compliant usb audio interface.

I already own the camera kit and use it with my interface.. and while its a nice workaround its not something Korg can turn to as a primary method. Few apps use iTunes sync (iDrum) and do so by putting the samples in the ringtone library. Almost everything else uses some form of file-sharing managed through user logins on their websites or a mini-webserver app run on the local computer. I don't foresee Korg starting and managing a site for this unless the iER makes insane amounts of $$ which is realistically doubtful. Besides, they can barely run their own website ;p The ringtone/sync method would seem like the best available and legit option to them along with the sd card reader.. if Apple ever makes the API for the kit public outside of reading images and communcation to the camera... for now it's a no-no and the app would get turned down if it tried to do anything undocumented.

So that means we may have our ESX after all!

(Which is my favorite electribe)

or at least an ES-1 with some ESX features would be enough
Wink

Yes, I much agree - the ER is a GREAT start -
but I want a sampler! with an arpegiator.

See my DETAILED review of ER iElectribe of course Wink

It's really easy to download / upload samples to the iPad using iTunes file sharing -
(iElectribe R already easily allows exporting .WAV loops to your main computer! Great.)

Thus the software ESX is totally possible!

Even if they can't get as much polyphony as the Hardware, it would be another hit App for KORG - probably even bigger than iER.
