|
|
So it looks like the backlight is just about gone on my gigging Triton. When I power it up now, sometimes I get NO backlight, sometimes I do after I let it sit for a little while. The touchscreen still works and I can read the display in bright light or with a flashlight, just no backlight.
The cheapest price I've found online for a replacement is $225 plus shipping. This seems a bit high to me but I can't find anything cheaper.
I'm hoping someone here knows of a cheaper source for the parts. I'm assuming Korg Service Center would be about $250 as well...

I have a few feelers out there. As soon as I find one, I'll post it here. I can't afford for it to go completely dead on me during a show... _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |

Hello, McHale ... I am a new member but long ago I read this forum, I'm Italian and I know little English I am translating with google ..... I read your problem.
I do not think you should change the entire display $ 225 ... are all, if your problem is you should replace the backlight lamp CCFL that is inside the display on the right. The cost of the lamp is around here in my part of 14 euros, I have bought a spare for my triton extreme, but it is a fairly complicated and delicate operation, the lamp also called white CCFL (cold cathode) is 100mm and long only volumes 2mm thick so very delicate. It is hidden in a white plastic housings so as not to disperse the light in the right side of the display. If you are not able to replace you maybe you can do to make someone an expert. The shops can be found in parts of electronic displays, lcd.

I did not know there was a seperately replacable lamp. I thought it was all one unit. This could turn out to be a cheap fix.
Thanks maxextreme! Time to start tearing it down and placing an order. You're a life saver! Do you have any additional details on the specific part (who makes it, model number, etc)?

Anything, the electronics for me is a hobby, to be honest I did anvhe valve cover and knobs and switches of the buttons. However I repeat that it is a delicate operation, you must remove all the tabs to get to dislay, then you very gently pull the lamp without breaking unsolder the two wires and solder the other end, there are various types and lengths thickness of lamps, you must put an equal, I have mine, I measured the size, the screen is definitely identical all'extreme. Greetings and good work ...

| Looking at the datasheets, the "DK" version appears to already have wires attached to them. Don't know (without opening my triton) would be easier to work with. |

| I do not open your link .. I went on the official website and I do not even open one, the symbol looks the same, however the important thing is to be white, 100mm long 2mm often other factors to think that we should not worry because I understand that the voltage increases with increasing thickness and Length of the lamp, then to avoid mistakes and maintain the original features even better because it would be impossible to enter the small room. |

I can not see your links , do not know why I tried with the MiniMAC.
If it can be helpful, my CCFL has only terminal type rheophores welding wires later, however, can also go with the wires, the only drawback is that if you are too short and does not end with the same terminal attack needs to be done a cutting and adding wires go with the original card connection. |

I haven't tried. I'm sure it's the backlight failing but I'm in no hurry to replace it since it's still working (eventually). _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |
