I am wondering if there are Korg developers who are interested in developing ideas for new Kaoss instruments? I would be interested in developing and doing video reviews in exchange for sponsorship as an artist. Anyways...
I am working on a platform for the next generation of Kaoss pad, now that the KP3 seems to be "old news" for a lot of minimalist / techno producers. At least, for me...
I have been doing glitch experiments with the KP3. I have midi step-sequenced the effects switch knob successfully, enabling up to 40,000 effects to be switched per second.
If we can attach a variable LFO to the KP3's effects selector state, maybe there can be onboard glitching. If we can do this, maybe we can approximate multiple effects at once?
I would LOVE for the KP3 to be able to do multiple effects at once.
Lets mash on some ideas for the "Kaoss Infinite"! Here are a few I would like to add:
*Tube / Tape / DigiTalk / Disto resampling (adjustable by knob). This way sparkle, crunchyness, bias, and roundness are applied very easily and in real-time. All minimal producers need to make things sound like they've gone thru lots of dirty systems at-once.
*More sampler loops! Also, maybe a way to "bump" loops in real time so that their start and ends can be more precisely matched? Its a real pain trying to get everything to sync via midi without good mergers and splitters (especially with older Korg boxen like my favorite, the EM-1).
*1/4" or XLR inputs and outputs: come on Korg! Lets make our Kaoss HOT!
*Automatic feedback switch: you know what this is for: those strange, ambient-on-cassette-tape sessions. Add some weirdness to the mix with the flick of a switch.
