example:
i am in keyboard mode playing sample 1.
i record a melody to pattern 1 with the keyboard.
it sounds good.
i hit play, it plays it back, no problem. i hit stop.
but now i want to play another melody on top of what i recorded.
if i try to switch samples (to play sample 2 over what i recorded with sample 1), it switches what i recorded, so it plays back what i recorded but with a different sample. i don't want this. i want to be able to record 1 keyboard part, then record another one on top of it with a different sample.
is there a way around this?

The microsampler only allows for one keyboard part per pattern, it's usually what everyone grumbles about when discussing the machine. Try laying down the first keyboard pattern in an empty pattern bank, then re-sampling it to an empty sample bank. Then go back and record that as a sample on to your first pattern and viola - you've freed up your keyboard part for that pattern.

make sure you keep your original sample and pattern though, so if the resample does not work for you or you like it to edit it latter, you will be able to do the process again. Resample is an extremely powerful feature, you can build hundrends and thousands of tracks and samples this way. You may trick anyone into thinking that you used a whole orchestrat or a mega studio.

Its an extremely basic tool and an extremely basic idea that can do wonders.
