I had such a great time with the iMS-20 that I went straight to the app store and bought the iElectribe. It's not very good in my opinion :-/

I did no background research so its partially my fault for high expectations but, I was disappointed to see that it's not really sample based but rather an ER-1. Now, I'd be fine with that, if the synth engine wasn't so... weak. Even running the iPad through my sub, none of the tones were that interesting.

It seems like it'd be fine for minimal genres, but only for them. Despite it having two less drum tones you can use at a time, the iMS-20 seems much more able to generate powerful kicks and hits. I wouldn't have paid more than $2-3 for the electribe... but maybe its my personal taste.

This is why my ER-1 is in storage and only occasionally used as a MIDI controller/sequencer for the drums on the Radias.

It can however do some great crazy sounds and rhythms, especially when you turn the delay time down so much that it becomes a comb filter and you effectively get a kind of physically modelled synth bass.

But IMO it sucks for even the most basic drum sounds. Especially the kicks. I'm always having to use the EQ on my mixer.

does the er-1 hardware have better drum sounds than the ielectribe? i can't find a single kit with a decent kick drum. what i'm looking for is pretty plain, just a straight forward kick sound. i was surprised there is no "rock" kit as that would be a cornerstone i'd think. love the app, hate the tones.
