You talk of having both, but that would put the Kronos to a different price range, both by providing the necessary hardware (flash slots plus users buying flash memory - have a look at the Yamaha prices) and an updated software.
I can't deny it would be nice, but to me personally it's not worth the money and effort, being able to live very well with the present solution. _________________ Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5 |

Na, I'm talking having only flash memory instead of SSD (well, they're basically very similar things).
Well, perhaps if SpIdErWeB manages to put a way faster SSD in Kronos and confirms it would make the booting much faster, that could change my mind. Then the question remains why Korg didn't put a faster SSD there in the first place. |

Reasons could be:
- a faster SSD is much more expensive.
- a faster SSD possibly has a less good MTBF rate.
- a faster SSD is probably newer and they did not have enough test time to test it thoroughly (understand that development of a new synth takes years). _________________

No. Newer SSDs actually have this even better than old ones. |

Agree to this.
It's probably a similar discussion why they did not put a faster CPU inside to get more polyphony. _________________

Things to do while waiting for 1 minute 48 second bootup:
1) microwave a cheeseburger
2) read a Kurzweil promo

2) Wait until your band has finished playing the special song where no keyboard player is needed, which they studied especially for this occasion.
Does anybody know such songs, taking exactly 2:16? _________________

You could try "Seaside Rendezvous" from Queen.
Length: 2 mins, 13 seconds.
Queen performed this acapella on several occasions, so no keyboard needed. _________________ || My music ■■ How to embed Youtube and Soundcloud on this forum ||

Last weekend someone dumped a beer on my power strip and shut down my whole setup during a section that only had keyboards. Wah Wah Wah.... Took 3 minutes to figure out what happened 2 minutes to locate a new outlet and what seemed like forever booting up. _________________ Corey Mast

Sounds good ... we have 3 singers
(And I'm not one of them). _________________

3) Play your other synths to remind yourself why you bought a Kronos in the first place. _________________ Kronos 61, Kronos2-88, Hammond B3, Baldwin SD-10 |

Actually that's quite a good idea!
I love Queen. |
