|
|
Hello
Since the Kronos Engine has dynamic processing power allocation,
is it possible (maybe in the future) to use more than 12 insert effects when
we NOT use any of the buildt in virtual synthesizers ?
Or will this not be possible because of cpu power ?
I use workstations as sampler only (have enough hw synths) and need to have so much effects as possible.
I would pay 1000 Euros to get ADDITIONAL 16 insert effects (expansion board?) |

I dont see the point posting these posts when the board is not even out yet, need more of this...need more of that
Wait untill the board is out before asking for more stuff, even if adding more fx slots would be possible i would not get my hopes up, 16 is a nice number compared to M3 (which kronos is "replacing"), thats more than the double power, and the fx algoritms are even better(from oasys)?
But to stay on topic, there are 16fx slots in total, the two additional master effects are abit "routable" aswell, and then you have two additional Total affects (reverb etc) to put on the whole mix.

The 16 effects is in total.
Thats 12 inserts, 2 masters, and two totals. Not including the per-part EQ and such which saves on some usage of effects.
Add to that that I think some of the sound engines have their own effects (like in EP1, and CX-3), and others probably sound pretty good before you start adding effects (like MS20 and P6) _________________ Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,

if it was a software plug in, you could've put as many affects on it as your computer could handle.. _________________ World needs Nikola Tesla’s technologies |

This was one of the main features about everyone complains of OASYS. It was meant to have EXf, wich means Expansion Effects, they promised to add more effects, but it didn't go anywhere. This is still possible in the OASYS, but I don't think Kronos will be able to have EXfs.
Btw, 16 effects are not enought for you? Man, you're hard to satisfy. _________________ Gear: Korg M50, Korg Monotron, Kurzweil KP-1, Boss FS-5U. |

Yep. The PolySix has its own Chorus, Ensemble and Phase, and that's for each one that you use. Since the HDR is full 24 bit, why not record some audio tracks, stacking as many FX as you want?
It's not a perfect system, but a heck of a lot better than the 5 Inserts you get on M and Triton series.

True. However, I don't know that an EXf would have added another simultaneous effect. I believe it would have been a new effect type.....like a vocal morphing filter. |

buy a worktation only for the fxs???
maybe you could get better or similar hardware/software for the same price and a lot more of modularity
Also, KORG is promoting the KRONOS as it is... no expations, no upgrades, software nor hardware... of they realease a few or a lot, great... but if you want a KRONOS (or anything) for capabilities that are not mentioned, look specifically for something with the capalitites that you want/need
KORG its being cautious about making promises about expandability, upgrades and new features, they make the mistake with the OASYS.
Regards.

12 INSERT effects (+ 4 effects after them) should be enough in most situation. if you really need some more, you can free effects slots after having made some bounces of some tracks to audio tracks. |

Playing an OASYS I can assure you, the effects are enough.
Only in combination mode you have to think about the routing and effects beeing used but it should work for more than 99.9 %.
In a studio situation you can also add outbord effects, so ....?
