Not sure if this has been discussed already.
How long is the boot time to get Kronos up and running? _________________ www.soundcloud.com/orpheus2006

Sharp stated that it takes about 10 seconds to load approx 1GB sample data from the SSD to the RAM.
That is not the boot-up time. We don't know that yet. _________________ Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,

I hope this isn't a similar thread to that one where a guy won't buy it because it lacks pads?
So if it takes longer than the 10 seconds, will you not get it? |

Haha, ok.
Well I'm sure its faster than the Oasys because of the SSD, but I suppose it would also depend on what Exs you would choose.
Is this a curious question, or does it have some relevancy?
I mean if you're on stage, I'm sure you'd get a few minutes to setup, or do the crowd expect instant-gratification? |

Actually my son, who is practising the piano at home sometimes takes the long boot time of the M3 as an excuse to not do his homework. He requires a piano that can be switched on in light speed.
(I need to take into account the requirements of all family members, not just mine) _________________ www.soundcloud.com/orpheus2006

The answer to this isn't final yet, but keep in mind that just like any workstation, the boot process also needs to load the OS and graphical resources.
I just timed the entire 929mb preload (while already powered on), and it loaded the whole thing in 42 seconds.
Gotta love SSD... _________________ Richard Formidoni |

Seems to be a lot faster than the M3 _________________ www.soundcloud.com/orpheus2006

Thanks for the first comprehensible "guess" about boot time.
Its more or less an Oasys boot-time, I thought it would be faster, but no matter |

Keep in mind, that's not the total boot time, just the time it takes to load our entire sample set. Booting the OS and UI will add to this. _________________ Richard Formidoni |

What a relief | Glad to see you have a similar requirement. I somewhat got the impression I'm a troll _________________ www.soundcloud.com/orpheus2006

Oh no.. not a troll at all. I played some large gigs where there are multiple bands. And the show requires that the change between stage setups is so fast and accurate, that an M3 with the added EX libraries and piano, doesn't have time to completely load by the time it's needed. _________________
