I am going to get this thing 15% off of MAP easy for sure. Flash the cash and they will take your order. I can understand the concern overseas buyers have. Any day of the week call up MF and make an reasonable offer (much better than the $200 off going around right now). 15% is where I start. |
well I'll tell you this... prices are not in stone. and if korg realizes or suspects that they have underpriced this unit... they may increase the price... now that they see how excited the public is about purchasing...
preordering locks you in.
and dude.... MF or no one else is going to give you 15% (that's $570 off the $3800 Kronos....)
that's a hugely steep discount. _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

I can prove otherwise.....
I purchased a $4,200 bass trombone from Woodwind & Brasswind (MF sister site) for $3,400 shipped.
Before Alesis discontinued the Andromeda, had it actually shipped, I would have paid $2,340 not the $2,999 price. I had it locked.
I understand what you say, but this is ALWAYS the case when there is a new product. There are the hardcore few that buy it outright. We are those people. I am certain if you tow the line on this, when it ships, even if there is a marginal increase in MAP we could still get it cheaper.
I am shooting for the 73 key for 3K. I think that is more than fair. I am a straight shooter and I will blast out to 40-50 music stores until I get the price I want. |

Will do. Whenever the other vendors begin to list the Kronos I will be on it and will revisit you with a PM. You also have to look at it that some of the mail order don't have the overhead and are able to offer better deals. The general rule I play with MI products is 15-20%, somewhere in there is a good ballpark what I expect to pay. |

I am almost sure he can beat any of those prices that you see anywhere. (even the "call in special" prices that NOVA music is giving you.)
I guarantee it... this guy is great. I've been using him for about a year now.
I want to stress these features....
FREE SHIPPING AND FREE 2 YEAR WARRANTY... plus he will beat those prices...
no brainer if you ask me. LOL
I mean if you want the KRONOS. You won't find a better place to get it than sweetwater. Hit me up. I'll put you on to him too.
This is not an advertisement either... just trying to help the Korg community get the best deal possible. |
I didn't want this to get lost in the shuffle... I know a bunch of guys aren't on the site on the weekend... _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

I forget. What incentives does Sweetwater give when a new customer mentions your name? I used to know... _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |

i don't think the sales engineer should matter. i contacted novamusik, got an email confirming their $200 and i forwarded that email to my sweetwater guy and he gave me the same discount.
if you get an engineer who doesn't do that then you should either request another sales person or talk to your your current salesperson's manager |

the price from Sweetwater is better (cheaper) than Nova music..... but mymusic, if you've already ordered from Sweetwater, this deal won't include you anyway.
I'm glad you've ordered your Kronos. I've not completely decided yet which route I'm going..... _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

As hard as it may be to believe McHale, I don't know what incentives they offer. You don't just have to mention my name, but you won't get the price probably either... (cause he won't know who referred you)
If you remember, please let me know. I'd be interested to find out. _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

You also have to look at it that some of the mail order don't have the overhead and are able to offer better deals. The general rule I play with MI products is 15-20%, somewhere in there is a good ballpark what I expect to pay. | Not all of MI has the same profit margin. Things that are largely tech-based often have very little margin, especially as the prices climb. I'm sure you did get a horn at that price you mentioned before, and it was probably sitting there for a while. Things made of wood can usually have a decent profit in them, too. But the latest and greatest synth workstation? I highly doubt anyone is going to sell you a Kronos at cost in the next year, and, while I'm no longer in MI and thus no longer get dealer price sheets, I doubt there is much more than 20% profit in a Kronos. _________________ Kronos 61, Kronos2-88, Hammond B3, Baldwin SD-10 |

Guitar Center regularly has 15% off sales, though they limit it to $500. That's probably how I'll get a Kronos if I decide to. I'm not sure if Korg is one of the manufacturers excluded from those sales, but I know Yamaha is included. And that's how I got my XK3c. _________________ Korg Kronos 61, DSS-1, EX-8000

well I'll tell you this... prices are not in stone. |
If I was Korg,
if I had failed the mass comercialization of a very good product (Oasys)
if my current endeavour was mass-selling the same technology in a new affordable and more giggable package
if a 30 seconds teaser of my new product had received comments by 20.000 people in 5 days,
showing plenty of divergence among expectations and reactions, with wide technical acclaim but somehow pensive reactions to price,
while my previous product had sold just 3000 pieces, mainly due to a miscalculated price stragey,
and if I had 3 months in front of me before really releasing the product,
and if the break-even on my new product was strongly linked to an optimized ratio bwtween unity price and numbers sold (as opposed to the Oasys whose price couldn't fall because of the huge R&D cost)
a) I would be throwing around a lot of ballons d'essai
b) I would be posting everywhere "fake" (better: "test") prices, or have somebody do it for me,
c) I would be getting pre-sales specials then announce further rebatesif necessary, (nobody backtracks from a pre-buy if he is told that he will spend less then he has budgeted)
e) I would keep people on their toes about availability of the product, I would keep mum about quantity produced, and I would use EVERY single day of these 3 months, until the very last, to hone my strategy
But maybe Korg thinks different, it already has a final price established, and will not correct it no matter what people say or do |

Before you visit Guitar Center, read the "excluded manufacturer list" on their sale coupons.
I believe Korg is on that list, so GC probably won't give you a 15% discount on the KRONOS.
