Load your own samples to it: yes. Stream: no.

They can be stored on SSD I believe, then preloaded to RAM from there.

If this is the case I guess its sort of a substitute for flash memory in a way.

There are two types of sound libraries in the Kronos:
1) "ROM" - 314 MB, always loaded and available
2) EXs Expansion Libraries (currently EXs1 - EXs9) -- you can specify which of these are to be loaded at power up.

According to the specs, IF you load all of the EXs libraries, which is the factory default, you have "about 273 MB" of RAM available for your own sounds.

What is not known is how much RAM the EXs libraries use. This information would tell you the maximum MB available for loading user samples/sounds.

There is also the issue of potentially adding more RAM. The Kronos may be similar to the OASYS, where the 1.0 OS of the OASYS only supported the 1GB of RAM that came with the factory. A later OS update (1.1) allowed users to install a 2nd 1GB of RAM. I suspect the Kronos motherboard has some open RAM slots. Of course Korg has made no promises to allow additional RAM to be installed.

So in reality this is not a yes or no answer yet. Still questions surrounding this Kronos RAM?

Did they mention what's different about user samples that explains why they can't be streamed while the factory libraries can?

Nope. I'm also really interested in what's the difference.

Probably it's just software: "Oh, you're EXs, you can be streamed. Oh, you're user sample, you cannot be streamed. BECAUSE I TELL SO!"

May I translate all of the above as:

reference manual needed ASAP in order to get full file management specifications

?

I think that's the only way to understanding the real power of the machine.

Rumours and guesses don't teel me what I get for the money.

And THIS is a very important issue.

If full power of SSD and streaming can be used, it's a LOT of power

I'd say it must be something different.
M3 owners should remember/know, that the EX USB Expansions load significantly faster on boot up than user samples. Maybe the format is different, optimized in a way that it can be streamed directly from the disc.

Your Yamahas can't stream at all, so STFU.
