Haha, the pirate festival sounds like fun. Actually we all got dressed up in fancy dress for my Step Dad's 60th birthday party. It was a toss up between the pirate and the abba costume!

Hi KorgForumites

My name is Devyn. I'm 27 years old. Born and raised in sunny South Africa (a British-hybrid, one part English, one part Welsh and 2 parts Scottish).
I've always had an interest in music. My mother was a piano instructor tho I was never taught. Started raiding my parents Record collection around the age of 10 or 11 when I got my first 'phono' started making mix-tapes.. then later raiding their CD collection. Started messing around in FruityLoops a few years back, nothing serious.. but then my eyes were opened to the word of electronic synthesis..
Got hooked on gear when introduced to it by a work colleague late last year and have already got a sizeable collection of 'simple' gear. My first piece was my Electribe MX followed shortly by my Kaoss Pad 3... then the Roland SP404.. then the MicroKorg etc etc Razz

My music tastes and ambitions evolve constanly, but recently I've been working mostly with Drum'n'Bass and Dubstep but also drifing into trance now.
I'm still exploring possibilities and I'm very eager to move towards live production/performance/DJing... blur the boundaries a bit.
Still have alot to learn (which is why I joined this forum)
I've already learnt alot from being a member.. and hopefully I'll be able to pass some of that knowledge on to others

My name's Dan - I'm 37 years young. Married for 13 years with 2 girls (8 & 10).
My background is in production and commercial engineering - I had the pleasure of working with UK reggae pop-group, UB40, and have engineering, production and keyboard credits on several of their albums, including a remix under the name of "Gogglehed".
Whilst in their company, I was fortunate enough to see some fantastic sights around the world, work in the best studios, with some amazing artists.

I now live in rural Herefordshire (UK) where my day-job is Course Manager/Lecturer in Sound Engineering & Music Technology at the local city college.

I still produce and engineer on a freelance basis, and also play in an 11-piece Funk band, playing covers - Funkatroniclovecommandos

You can see in my sig the kit I've got, but here's a pic....

Taken at work - I also designed and installed the studios there too!

Yes, I spec'd an Audient ASP8024 - 48 frame with the blue LED option and ash shelf/scribble strip.

Went for analogue, as most students still don't get the analogue signal flow, let alone complicating it with digital (and my pet hate of "inserts" - sticking reverbs onto real-world inserts just because you can do it in a DAW Evil or Very Mad

)

Great console.

And the Virus B has been on the verge of sale for years, but I keep going back to it Laughing

Wow Dan, I'm jealous! Look how tidy your desk is! No dust, not random cables and it's all so nicely colour co-ordinated to!

The contents of my PC desk currently include.............

Mug of coffee
Iphone headphones
Pen
Dishwasher receipt
Tape measure
MicoSD usb reader
Capo
Dog tag (found in local park by my nephew that I keep meaning to post back to it's owner)

So I really envy you for being so tidy!

TBH, after my studio got wrecked back at Christmas (freezing temps burst pipes and destroyed the studio), I vowed that when it was all re-done, I would keep it tidy.......

I couldn't help but note that some forum members have had a problem with balance, I have had chronic Menieure's Disease (Inner Ear) balance problems for over 25 yrs. A treatment has been perfected as below, certainly helped me out. See your Ear Nose & Throat Specialist.

I'm just glad I'm finally getting somewhere with it. It's amazing how so many doctors can tell you that you haven't got something but it just takes one who knows what they're doing and it can make all the difference. I just wish I didn't have to keep travelling to London every time!
