Hi Hanon, nice to meet you and thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. I'm loving the 80's pic at the bottom!

Hi Emma,
thanks for the welcome.
I think the bottom pic is from 1977, but memory is the second thing to go with age, I don't remember what the first was [/grandpa joke]
I love your pirate outfit, I had to look to see where you are from, as it looked like you were suitably dressed for the local annual Gasparilla pirate festival
Cheers, Hanon _________________ I used to play Korg instruments, then I took an arrow to the knee. |

Haha, the pirate festival sounds like fun. Actually we all got dressed up in fancy dress for my Step Dad's 60th birthday party. It was a toss up between the pirate and the abba costume! |

Hi KorgForumites
My name is Devyn. I'm 27 years old. Born and raised in sunny South Africa (a British-hybrid, one part English, one part Welsh and 2 parts Scottish).
I've always had an interest in music. My mother was a piano instructor tho I was never taught. Started raiding my parents Record collection around the age of 10 or 11 when I got my first 'phono' started making mix-tapes.. then later raiding their CD collection. Started messing around in FruityLoops a few years back, nothing serious.. but then my eyes were opened to the word of electronic synthesis..
Got hooked on gear when introduced to it by a work colleague late last year and have already got a sizeable collection of 'simple' gear. My first piece was my Electribe MX followed shortly by my Kaoss Pad 3... then the Roland SP404.. then the MicroKorg etc etc
My music tastes and ambitions evolve constanly, but recently I've been working mostly with Drum'n'Bass and Dubstep but also drifing into trance now.
I'm still exploring possibilities and I'm very eager to move towards live production/performance/DJing... blur the boundaries a bit.
Still have alot to learn (which is why I joined this forum)
I've already learnt alot from being a member.. and hopefully I'll be able to pass some of that knowledge on to others _________________ http://soundcloud.com/neotechtonics

Not really in my opinion. I hate Gasparilla Festival. It's just a bunch of drunk people walking around being completely stupid. The parade itself is a bit fun but not when it is over. _________________ Korg R3, Roland SH-201, Roland MC-909, Novation Mininova, Novation Impulse 49, Korg EMX, and a bunch of VSTi's |

I'll join in
My name's Dan - I'm 37 years young. Married for 13 years with 2 girls (8 & 10).
My background is in production and commercial engineering - I had the pleasure of working with UK reggae pop-group, UB40, and have engineering, production and keyboard credits on several of their albums, including a remix under the name of "Gogglehed".
Whilst in their company, I was fortunate enough to see some fantastic sights around the world, work in the best studios, with some amazing artists.
I now live in rural Herefordshire (UK) where my day-job is Course Manager/Lecturer in Sound Engineering & Music Technology at the local city college.
I still produce and engineer on a freelance basis, and also play in an 11-piece Funk band, playing covers - Funkatroniclovecommandos
You can see in my sig the kit I've got, but here's a pic....
Taken at work - I also designed and installed the studios there too!

Is that an Audient console? we had one of those at the university. Really great to work with.
And kudos on the Virus B too. Great classic sound. I've got one of those lying around somewhere. _________________ Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,

Yes, I spec'd an Audient ASP8024 - 48 frame with the blue LED option and ash shelf/scribble strip.
Went for analogue, as most students still don't get the analogue signal flow, let alone complicating it with digital (and my pet hate of "inserts" - sticking reverbs onto real-world inserts just because you can do it in a DAW )
Great console.
And the Virus B has been on the verge of sale for years, but I keep going back to it

Wow Dan, I'm jealous! Look how tidy your desk is! No dust, not random cables and it's all so nicely colour co-ordinated to!
The contents of my PC desk currently include.............
Mug of coffee
Iphone headphones
Pen
Dishwasher receipt
Tape measure
MicoSD usb reader
Capo
Dog tag (found in local park by my nephew that I keep meaning to post back to it's owner)
So I really envy you for being so tidy! |

Thanks
TBH, after my studio got wrecked back at Christmas (freezing temps burst pipes and destroyed the studio), I vowed that when it was all re-done, I would keep it tidy.......
4 months and counting!!!

I couldn't help but note that some forum members have had a problem with balance, I have had chronic Menieure's Disease (Inner Ear) balance problems for over 25 yrs. A treatment has been perfected as below, certainly helped me out. See your Ear Nose & Throat Specialist.

Intratempanic Gentomycin.

Wow that sounds painful! It must have been great to finally get some relief from your symptoms. I've finally been diagnosed with superior dehiscence of the semi circular canal and have another ct scan next week so they can see if they can operate. I'll be so pleased if they can and I can start to get my life back. It's funny there are so many of us on here with inner ear problems. |

Not nice. I'd rather get my teeth drilled with no freezing, there are many series of injections. Anyway, this is a KORG Forum not a medical advise column, I love my KORG keys, especially my M3, may get a Kronos sooner or later,, GNB _________________ M3-73, Roland Fantom X8, Motif ES7, OMNISPHERE VST and my baby, an old Fender Rhodes 73. Aye, too true Pp.
Glad your efforts to get it sorted are going in the right direction - fingers crossed re op!
I've still got what they call Bacterialogical Labarynthitis but thankfully not many dizzy spells of late... But when they happen they now strike very quickly. Have also had slight loss of hearing in one ear (low/high frequencies).
But turning the volume up does wonders and sorts it all out

You're right about being a Korg forum (where recently Roland and Yamaha and Kurzweil have been discussed more than Korg in Korg instrument-specific threads) - but this here is off-topic, so anything goes - and frankly where discussion about Roland, Yamaha, Kurzweil, and anyone else other than Korg actually belongs. I'm just glad I'm finally getting somewhere with it. It's amazing how so many doctors can tell you that you haven't got something but it just takes one who knows what they're doing and it can make all the difference. I just wish I didn't have to keep travelling to London every time! |
