At least not on that track. Daft Punk does use a vocoder on other tracks, and I think they use a wide range of vocal processing too. |
Of course, not on the mentioned track... |

Well in that case I would be glad to be a leader of a rebellion against this ban, with banners of ideological idols such as W. Carlos, Kraftwerk, Alan Parsons, Saga etc.
Be prepared!!! _________________ _/\_><_><_|_//,_

Wendy Carlos, of course! I forgot. Sorry.
Ok, she can have one or two [dozens]. She definitely knows her vocoding.
Kraftwerk should be dumped in the Ocean for crossing the line between synthesizers and phone answering macchines...
... in the wrong direction (opposed to Kurzweil's).
98% of vocoders are bought by wannabe Kraut-nerds with pencil necks (or, rather, goose necks).
All of them should be dumped into the nearest Ocean, pond, Rhein or whatever, their feet tied to a concrete block extracted from the nearest autobahn |

I never said Autotune was a vocoder. I said it's over-used.
But seriously, trying to recreate the "Daft Punk" sound live at gigs sounds like it might be a bit of a challenge in real-time. I was hoping it was a vocoder effect that I could perform live when we play Kanye West's "Stronger." I might have to sample it...bummer. Thank God for Melodyne. |

After 2 pages on this thread I still don't know the answer to the question:
How does the Kronos vocoder compare to the M3 vocoder and to the Radias/R3 vocoder? (we already know that the Radias/R3 vocoder is better than the M3 vocoder effect). |

I think you will have to wait until the Kronos is available and someone makes a report on it or someone from KORG explains how it is. I still think it will be similar to the R3dias. _________________ _/\_><_><_|_//,_

@axim,
I listened to your Mozartian rendition on the radias.
When all vocoders will be finaly outlawed, you may keep one as well.
Nice job.

nope. It'll be the same as the M3 Vocoder effect. This has been answered already. I'm kinda bummed though I really don't use it a whole lot. _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |

I was DEADLY serious.
You may not know it, but illegal vocoders can be seized and terminated by the VoCoPos (Vocoder Polizei),
which are cruel sons of a bitch:
they are even paler
their shirts even more ironed and starched
their shoes even more shining
their blood even colder
their eyes even icier
they are even more unmovable
than the Kraftwerks themselves
They'd take your front door down at 4 am, wake up your spouse and children,
abduct your vocoder kicking and screaming
and leave in its place a used roland xp-10
careful what you do.
because the first time you get that,
but if you relapse you may get a visit from the Rockets-dressed ASD (AnalogSikercheitDienst): they take away everything with knobs in your house (synthesizers, tv, washing machine, bath-tub pregnant female labrador, everything),
and leave you alone with a conga drum. |

I would...EXCEPT, I have a VERY weak gag reflex and I've been told that you've got to shove the tube pretty far back in your mouth to pick up a signal. I doubt cover-band crowds at super-hopping clubs--regardless of how drunk they may be--would get off on watching me hurl on stage. Nome sayin?
Eddie Van Halen is the same way. I read an interview of his where he was going to use a Talk Box back in the late-80s, early-90s and couldn't do it...he kept gagging on the tube. So I'm not alone.
Unless the Banshee 2 just has to be in the very edge of your mouth? |
