Really? Exactly one-thousand-million dollars? Sounds like a hefty ransom. Very Happy

And yet you wouldn't commit to a measly 10 Euros a year? Or less probably if everyone came on-board. It could be as little as 2 Euros a year....

That's right. A long list of reasons - for example I would have never signed up if someone asked me for any amount or my card details. If, on the other hand, I could read freely but not post anything before doing the same, well, you've guessed: I'd never post here (not that it would be an immense loss for humanity, I guess Very Happy). I could go on for a long time about the reasons, but suffice it to see my acts - by which people should be judged anyways, in my opinon. Hope this helped to understand.

Sharp, would you please tell how much is needed and for what (is it the annual hosting fee)? Thank you.

You have mentioned the 29,000 registered users. But how many of them are really using the forum?

These facts would help everybody to decide the amount of donation. Also to help voting in the other thread about the annual subscription fee. (I've voted yes.)

And btw, even with that, I feel that KF is big enough to be paid for - for a small monthly or yearly fee per user.

Totally agree with that vEddy...An annual small subscription fee...NO problems from me on that at all.

If all members paid the sub of say, what, 10 Euros per year?? Thing is I really would not want to see a corporation take over the forum. The way James has it running as totally independent - PERFECT!!

So we should all support this ideal for an "untied" forum...

Maybe vEddy, you could set up a poll so James could get an idea of the support for a small annual fee??

Dennis

PS: I have just set up the poll:

Cool. Donations could be the way to go, too. God only knows how many users are regulars here so....

Sharp.

Do you get stats about how much time users are online or hit counts?

Might be worth knowing if out of 29000 users that 50 are regular and 20 are every month and the rest are dormant most of the time....

Yep... give me some time and I'll put up screen captures of activity. You won't believe how busy we are.

You might like this one.... here's us compared to korg.co.uk as tracked by alexa. I'll post accurate information on our status as soon as I can.

Cheers
Sharp.

Done... hope it helps.

I must admit I am one of the more "silent members" here, and have recently been visiting this forum quite often to read the latest posts, especially on the Kronos. I'm sure when I finally get my hands on one, I'll have a lot of questions, and there are quite a few helpful folks here. Looking forward to the future!

I'm against this donating and then writing in here "done".

Its so vain!

Can't you just donate some money and be done with it?
Do you have to brag about it, or in some way try to elevate yourself?

Its better to just donate and let it be an issue between yourselves and Sharp(James).

Anyway, its nice to now know a "target" more or less, which I presume is the 2400$
