I'm reading on other threads of guys trying out kronos' in europe, are there places in the U.S. where they can be tested? |

yes. But condition is: you pay the european price.
We pay 25% more for synths, that's why we are served first |

In this case, it seems it's just Netherlands and Italy.
I have not yet heard of any other European demos, and I am especially missing more activity from Korg & More Germany, who don't even show a halfway decent Kronos online presence so far. And after all I heard so far, they do not even intend to do anything signifcant before Frankfurt Musikmesse (at best shortly before). |

Speaking on that, on April I'm going to Italy, is there a good chance I can find a Kronos to demo? What stores already got it? |

Well, you said that Europe get served first, and the release date is about the end of april, shouldn't stores get it about a few weeks before?
Any word from Dan/Rich? |

sorry for the misunderstanding: it was just a bitter and self-deprecating joke about Europe's higher prices
We'll get the Kronos in may like everybody else.
BUT with the privilege of paying >5000 usd$ for a 88
The source for the may (5/10 may) date is the Italian Korg importer, who managed the presentations.
Since the kronos is expected no later than half april at biggest US chains (sweetwater, etc),
I'd say that the dates match and seem reasonable.
Previous legends ("europe waits until november", "sweetwater will get me a 88 by half-february" ) have been dispelled.
Every reasonable source points to april/early may for a global distribution, with prices more or less set.
also please notice that Kronos is produced in japan: which means that if it's got to be distributed in april/early may, the ships have already sailed port.
which also means that the kronos is completely finished and produced, the manuals have been printed etc.
Any speculation about "late fine-tuning" is absurd as well.
It's real now.
Wait one month, you'll be able to test it. |

It's got nothing to do with taxes. Each European state will add it's own VAT (Sales Tax), but even when you remove that from the equation, the net pre-tax price is still inexplicably higher. It has everything to do with the MAP (or RRP or SRP, whatever you want to call it) pricing set by Korg for Europe as compared to the price in the US.

If we europeans are so silly and run the first day to buy it at every price it is offered, then we deserve it.
I think if there would be a kind of resistence to buy it at such prices, they would end giving a reasonable one compared to other continents. But this would be utopic, so keep going and run for your Kronos. _________________ _/\_><_><_|_//,_

Well, the prices here really bugs me.. I wanna move to the US just for cheaper synths..
When you tried out the Kronos, how do you think it was compared to PC3? I mean, is it justified it costs twice the Kurzweil?
And yeah, give us the manuals!!!!! |
