I have read they are plastic. Will I void any warranties if I carve some nice one out of wood? Provided there isn't a lot of internals bolted to them of course. I can make a wood one exactly the same dimensions. I just don't want to lose my warranty. |

if you dont make any extra holes (or conceal them) and are able to take off the wood panels if you ever need to send it in for warranty repair, then chances are youre good.

if you don't gig that much & have a flight case, you have nothing to worry about.
The extreme had plastic end caps. My 76 never had a problem.
Others that gig frequently and smacked the end caps hard, may have had an issue.
Over the years, (since 2005), I saw very few complaints. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Apart from style & aesthetics, I wouldn't be too concerned about plastic end-peices. My Roland Fantom X7 has plastic end-pieces and has been regularly gigged for several years (though always in a sturdy flightcase). Apart from a few surface scratches, there are no reliability or construction issues with the end-peices. I see no reason for the Kronos end-pieces to be any different in this respect. |

Hey Bertotti, I think you have a great idea. From some of your other posts, it seems that you like working with wood. You're going to have a long happy life with your Kronos, so warming up the ends with wood could end up looking really sweet - a nice retro touch to your state-of-the-art baby You could even start a little cottage industry and sell them to your fellow Kronies |

I'm interested, even without free shipping. Though I'll confess that I'm not a huge fan of (unpainted) flamed maple. |

I would really love to use ebony but were I am at it is expensive! Indian rosewood would be cool to also kind of pricey where I am at. Actually a lot of hardwood are expensive here. Very sad.
We'll see how things work out. My Kronos is drifitng farther and farther away. Every time I tunr around another big bill rols in unexpectedly. |
