I suppose this is really a question for the Korg folk who may be lurking here.
I get why user samples aren't easy to stream - I've worked enough with large sample libraries to have to tune streaming parameters, and to realize that the amount of sample pre-load required varies enormously from one sample to the next. It's certainly not something that can be made "turn-key".
But these issues are well within the reach of the semi-professional or commercial sound set developers. Does Korg anticipate working with these types of "partner developers" (if you will) to facilitate streaming samples? |

I don't because it's not rocket science. If KORG can stream their own samples, then they can very well stream end user samples if the wanted to.
Streaming samples is not new. It's been around for well over a decade. Even my 10 year old AKAI S5000 could stream 12 notes of poly off SCSI disk back in the day. There is no reason why the Kronos can't do it other than KORG simply didn't implement the function fully.... yet.
Streaming on a KORG keyboard in the future is inevitable. Be it from an OS update for the Kronos or a future keyboard.

Extremely unlikely. KORG would likely just implement the function so all libraries stream, or none at all.

I agree. User Streaming would be very much like expanding the ram for us. Right now no RAM expansion has been announced, so the amount of RAM available is modest if you load all the regular libraries (EXi's).
The only thing I can guess is that libraries have to be optimized for streaming with Korg's implementation, hence leaving the potential for user error. I can't see any other reason why Korg would deny users this capability unless it plans to SELL more libraries and to give those an advantage.

With the existing Korg sample libs (2 pianos and drums) I wonder if those represent a known processing load, but if you were able to add more sounds to be streamed at the same time there might be problems. |

There are technical reasons for the current lack of streaming for user samples. We're aware that it would be very good to be able to stream user samples, but that's about all that I can say for now.
