iElectribe isn't based upon samples. It is based mostly on the Korg ER-1 which was an analog modeling groovebox.

Sounds are generated by basic waveforms and modulated with envelopes. You make new sounds by tweaking the knobs.

But the new gorillas version obviously has samples that he brought in to it
Including voice parts and such

As a newb to the software, I can see how to tweak existing sounds with the knobs. But how do you create new sounds?

Once you do create a new sound, is there a way to save it so it can be set to a button and used in other songs?

Part of the electribe philosophy is that the sounds are a part of a pattern I think.
If you get a bunch of sounds that you like, my advice is to save that as a blank pattern and copy/resave it when you want to make a new pattern using those sounds. I'm not sure if iElectribe has the functionality to save individual sounds but the originals certainly did not as such.

Anyway, those parameters are all that makes up the sound. By turning them you can produce any of the sounds in any of the parts in any of the other patterns. There are no 'samples' or 'sounds'. The Gorrilaz edition might have samples in it, but the standard iElectribe really does not.

I don't have iElectribe right here but the parameters are along the line of wave shape, modulation shape, modulation amount, and pitch. Then you have level, pan, low boost/filter. Stuff along those lines anyway. Those first four really define the main character of the sound. For example a kick drum can be made using a fast decay controling the pitch of a sine wave - that applies to any 'analog' drum machine.

There's no way to put your own samples in the iElectribe -- the developers of the Gorillaz edition programmed their app with their own samples.

To learn how to create new sounds, check out the quick start guide:
