Please, don't make this a bashing fight. I'm not trying to create a 'Mine is better than yours' thread.

I simply wanna know in what areas is the OASYS still superior to the KRONOS?

Can 100% of what can be done on an OASYS be done on the KRONOS?

Is the fidelity the same?

Yep, the fidelity is the same and all you could do on OASYS you can do on Kronos.

OASYS will still have bigger display, and LEDs around knobs and sliders (which is EXCELLENT to have live).

Oasys will obtain vintage status 5 years sooner. The O has analog inputs which are apparently quite useful.

Oasys has a very nice screen..
and probably Oasys has a bit better build quality

Ultimately the OASYS is an expensive Kronos. That means the components are better, the build is stronger and the design is 'better' (subjected I know - but I'm talking about the time taken to design it; not how good it looks!).

If you build a Ferrari and then convert it for a mass-market, then it's called a Porsche.

The Kronos has 'OASYS inside', like computers have 'Intel inside'.

Although the O has 2 less engines and one or two refinements (SSD, set list, etc), I think the O is still a legend for what it does and how it does it.

Don't get me wrong - I think it's great that those who couldn't afford an O may now possibly be able to get a K, but I will always love my O Cool

The OASYS has up to 1.5 gigs available for sample RAM, which is nice.

The 8 Individual outputs allow for more "modular" synth signal patching, when using multiple sounds. (I doubt anyone but a couple of people would exploit this.)

4 Inputs (2 with mic preamps and phantom power) allows you to plug in two stereo synths, or sing along with synth and a guitar. I think Kronos should have kept all 4 (instead of just 2 inputs) as the HDR allows you to record 4 simultaneous audio tracks.

On the flip side, Kronos has more factory soundsets - Expansion ROM 2, Ambient Drums, 4 gig pianos and Vintage Keyboards. I find those extras, the 24 bit recording and it's portability very appealing.

The eight outs on the OASYS are a very valuable resource - especially over ADAT- and especially for drum kits - when feeding into a DAW session where each sound can get its own mix channel.

Given the superlative quality of the OASYS (and Kronos) drum uncompressed samples, this is something that can be harnessed to a high degree of professionalism in tracking / mixing. It is less likely that Kronos can be used in this way - it does have 4 outs - but given the depth of the sound quality and breadth of synth / sound source types, OASYS can be integrated more professionally into a DAW environment when each output needs to be mixed separately. I have found this an absolute necessity on several jobs.

So the focus of Kronos will be different in this regard - it will become more a live playing instrument than a DAW source - at the higher end - despite its similar (greater) sound possibilities - they cannot be fed as flexibly into a multitrack DAW scenario (admittedly they can be tracked individually but that takes longer).

The OASYS feels like a class act and that is very important to a lot of people - it actually enhances your feel, your playing; and I'd say that the Kronos will not have that same effect on its owners. Its not really about amount of sounds - its about all that supports the sounds you play - and in this OASYS is at the highest echelons of modern musical instruments.

Of course the Kronos has many attributes the OASYS doesn’t so you’re right to flag the broadly meaningless comparisons – it any of us can use either OASYS or Kronos to their full potential we’ll be very happy (and wealthy) musicians.
