Has anyone looked on the bottom of the keyboard?

Are there any covers that appear to be expansion bays?

Curious. Really hoping there's a chance to add more RAM. Have a bunch of Akai discs I'd like to incorporate, but would like to load the EXi stuff too!

There are no expansion bays - you'd have to open the whole machine to replace the RAM stick, I guess.

But first, and OS update for 4 GB RAM support is necessary.

Whether it can actually support more RAM with an OS upgrade is one thing. But as it was already pointed out...the way Kronos is designed (61 key), it doesn't appear it was designed with user installable RAM in mind. If so, it would have had a small panel that could be easily removed.

no! the oasys did not have small panels tu upgrade the ram, but still it was really easy to upgrade since the top panel could be opened. i guess it will be the same on kronos

on oasys there was only TWO screws, one on each side to remove to open up the top board (without taking off any sliders or buttons), then you had access to the otherboard. is there some screws on the kronos side ? thanx

I had occasion to open up a Roland Fantom X7 and it too had loads (30+) screws on the bottom, but that was indeed the way to open it up, all 30-odd screws were holding the bottom plate to an extruded aluminium chassis that also formed the top panel. So it's not out of the question that undoing all 29 screws and removing the bottom is the way into the Kronos for servicing.

You not playing it day and night?

I remember doing that with Fire Engines when I was 4. But it took me at least a month to get bored with their external, accessible functions (first I had to estinguish all possible fires, then I had to enlist my Fire brigade in the usual battle between cowboys and nazis, next I had to test if it could stand jumping from 3rd florr. Only after that came the "entrails inspection") Wink

I've seen in other threads about the possibility for the Kronos in a later patch to stream user samples directly from the HD - if this is the case, wouldn't that be even better than increased RAM? You wouldn't be limited to even 4 GB of sample RAM. Although it seems too good to be true... b/c that would blow all of the other synths out of the water that use sample RAM like the M3, motif and G series workstations.
