The grey part under the keys doesn't fit super snug, and when I play the keys even softish it rattles very loudly against the plastic at either end. I had to stick paper shims in it to get it to stop. Need to find me something black and rubbery to replace the blue sticky notes. |
Couple suggestions:
Tool box drawer liner material. (the flat kind, not the bumpy kind with holes). Rubber glue would hold in place well enough, and you could remove it easily.
Adhesive felt bumpers from the hardware store. Also sticky enough without being too sticky. |

Rich F already commented that his demo Kronos was NOT a production model, and it had a loose keybed due to various experiments that were performed on it. |

Reading this posts i'm just getting more and more worried about the reliability of the Kronos. I mean i know the build quality and reliability will never be the same as my 01W's or my Trinity but come on... It's a top of the line workstation for god's sake!! I know that in order to try and keep a competitive price they had to cut some corners, but honestly for me i wouldn't mind to pay up more 500 or more if it would came close to the quality of the old boards. I see report's of stuff coming off with normal use ans playing, i think about how will this hold up on the road. I honestly hope that the 73 key version is build a little more sturdy than the 61, otherwise i'll have to get a vault to move it, not a case!! I can't speak mutch as i've not tested one yet, but i'll sure keep two eyes very open to build quality |

I would not worry about it at all. The build quality of the Kronos is good. _________________ ** KORG Product Support Contacts **

I would think this Rattling only appears on the 61 key version. The 73 & 88 key version is a little different built. No place to put in a paper on my 73 like it is on the 61. |

Build quality is different from reliability. Poor build quality (resulting in knobs and joysticks falling off, rattles from the keybed, etc.) will not necessarily have reliability implications--ie may not result in the Kronos failing earlier. However, it does impart a disappointingly cheap feel that is at odds with the rest of the instrument.
Edit: As an analogy my car rattles everywhere but it's still going strong after 7 years. |
