Korg doesn't announce arrival dates to us. They communicate with dealers only. The Sweetwater rep passed on what Korg said to them. _________________

Just FYI, the RH3 action in the Kronos is slightly modified from what is in the SV-1. _________________ ** KORG Product Support Contacts **

Is the RH3 made by Fatar, like the RH2? |

RH3 is Korg's own key action.
Where did you get the info that RH2 was built by Fatar? |

Do you know what those modifications were or how they impact the action v. the SV1. Thanks. _________________ Shigeru Kawai SK5

It is widely known that RH2 was built specifically for Korg by Fatar (Google's your friend). Some people say that RH3 action feels the same as Fatar's SL action. Korg did set up its own weighted synth action manufacturing facilities a few years ago in order not to use Yamaha keybeds. But I haven't heard anything about Korg's manufacturing its own graded hammer action keybeds. |

My Sweetwater Rep said that they were told 7-7-11 but he is not guaranteeing shipping dates yet until they see the boards with an actual arrival date. I asked about the old September shipping date and they are as confused as we are as to why the dates have flipped flopped.
In any case, it sounds pretty good that the 88's should be here in July.
On a side note, I bought a Motif XS8 a few weeks ago to tide me over until the Kronos is delivered and its a nice board if you load the XSpaded free sounds. The Xspanded piano is pretty good, but I do not think its as good as the Kronos demos. However, the Xspanded orchestral sounds are pretty good and may be better than the Kronos. However as far as synth type sounds, the Korg easily wins. Also, I prefer Korg Karma over the Yamaha arppegios. There also seems to be alot more usable Cobinations on the Kronos then the Yamaha patterns.
Overall, I liked my Korg M3 88 more than the Yamaha XS8, and since the Kronos is even better then the M3, I really look forward to the Kronos. |

I checked with Sweetwater over the possibility of switching my pre-order from the 88 to the 73, for various reasons. I was told that the an 88 with my name on it was expected to arrive first week of July, and all of the first shipment of 73's were spoken for. The next opportunity for a 73 would be September.
Looks like I am getting a new case and making more space. September is like forever......I would go crazy before then. _________________ -Joe |

Switching to a 73...why...moeny, size, or weight? The boards are identical except for 15 keys, which I want, but may not be so important for some. |

Originally I was going to keep the 88 in the studio. The more I think about it, ( the longer I wait the more I think) as awesome as I believe this thing is going to be, I am going to want to take it out and share it. Once I get a handle on it's capabilities and get my favorite sounds sorted of course.
The 88 is a little over 8 inches longer than the 73. and needs a new extra-large case where the 73 will fit in a case I already have. The weight difference is not an issue, but the bigger cases can be a lot heavier, depending on protection level.
I've played around with my 88 keyboard, and I can cope with the keys missing on the top and bottom. Also, on the 73 (and61), the switches above the joystick are set up by default as an octave shift, so that would have helped if I need to go to the extremes.
I can't wait until September. so I will stick with the 88. I'm still happy. No worries. _________________ -Joe |

Do you mean that the Kronos 88 needs a case that is bigger than a typical 88 key board requires? Or do you mean that you'll simply need to buy a new case that is larger than you already have?
