Howdy all -

Just picked up my Kronos 88 from Sam Ash in NY (Long Island).
They had received 3 - I was one of 2 pre-orders and 1 is floor model.

Serial - 139.

My 5 year old was playing with the 2 joysticks (the snap to center one and the free-form one) and if she couldn't break it, then it seems pretty stable. Time will tell, of course.

Anyway, just wanted to say that they're here (at least in NY) and they sound and feel FANTASTIC!

Dan/Rich/Whomever else...GREAT GREAT JOB.

Thanks
Starlin

Congrats Starlin, you must be one of the first.

I'm still awaiting mine, here in the UK. July/August Question

Would love to see some photos and/or videos of it, as most of the demos so far have only shown the 61 key (mainly) and the 73 key (sometimes).

How did you get it home??

What kind of vehicle did that 88 key (in a box) fit in?

Serious question looking for a serious answer.

Thanks!

Wow! you let a 5 years old come near your new purchase?

Do Korg pay you to QA their instrument? is that's why you got your instrument so fast?

Congratulations ! please report on how it handles peanuts butter Very Happy

Good to hear - I would do the same :

My 2 kids get to play my keyboards too. Granted they're a bit older though.

As an infant, my son learned to pull up so that he could whap on my Yamaha eDrum kit with his hands.

And now that you mention it, I don't remember peanut butter resistance coming up in any of the reviews I read at the time. And I have to say that rubber-ish drum pads do really well on the peanut butter survival test. Mesh heads not so much. Laughing

Ok - so to answer the bunch of questions...

1 - Of course I let my daughter near it. I also let her play my ipad (granted I have to clean the glass thoroughly afterwards. Smile ) Seriously, though, I let her get comfy with the stuff, set the ground rules (no food, etc...) and she's generally good.

Besides, I have a 2 year warranty, so no biggie.

2 - I have a Saturn (sigh) 2008 Vue. I had to collapse the back seat and push the front seat all the way to the front. It _barely_ fit.
My wife just LOVES sitting that close to the windshield... LOL

3 - Daughter, btw, doesn't like Peanut Butter. I have to watch out for the pizza grease, though...

4 - While I had only played with an RH3 at Sam Ash before, I was kinda worried. I like how my Yamaha P80 responded a LOT. Needless to say, after a little bit of adjusting, the RH3 on the 88 is UTTERLY amazing. Banging away Chopin, Beethoven and Billy Joel...the sound and the feel - incredible.

Then we started playing some classical things and I was playing along side with the orchestral sounds. with Adagio for Strings... WOW. You just tweak the sound here and there...wow... I still get chills and how realistic it sounded (especially that higher register portion).

I think that's it. Let me know if you have any other questions or just to tease me some more... Smile

Starlin.

You must be the 1st to get an 88, my preorder must be close.

thats great news on the RH3. I was concerned about it after trying out the
SV-1.

I use to have the Rd700GX which I felt had the best piano feel. If the RH3
is comparable, I will be happy. I will check back with you on what RH3 adjustments you made.

+1 on rd700gx .. Which really was outstanding, so I don't think the Kronos will feel that good.. But you will adapt soon enough... I went to the s70xs and as long as I don't think about the RD it's action is great...lol

Isn't the rh3 the same bed that is in the sv1 tho?

yep, the SV-1 has the RH3. I determined it was adequate and I would adapt.

I am supposedly Sweetwater 88 Order #1, but I haven't heard anything.

I placed my order less than 30 minutes after the board was announced.
